Picked up this S&W 340 M&P, .357 mag. today. It's a Scandium Alloy frame revolver. Weight 13.7 oz on my scale, S&W claims 13.3 oz. Front sight is XS Sight 24/7 Tritium Night sight. The most interesting thing about the 340 M&P is "NO LOCK"!!!
This should be fun to shoot.

I have one and it is a neat little gun. And it's fun to shot that first shot. After that it's all
pain  I wimp out and load it with 38 Spl. But I carry it just about everyday unless I
get dressed up.

Then I carry this:

I have one of these as well. I take the easy road out, and load with 38 spl. as well. I really like the U notch rear and XS front night sight, they are light years better that the setup on the standard J frames.

I am really glad to see more S&W revolvers available without the lock.
I am going to try to find one of these.
If S&W made the nightguard series without the lock, I would buy at least one in each caliber.
