OK, here's your pop quiz for the day...can Ion Bond be applied to a S&W Airweight revolver given that the frame is aluminum and the barrel is steel? If so, I see a project in the offing for an old Model 12 Airweight M&P....

Last gun I had done was all steel but with an aluminum mainspring housing. The did not want to Ion Bond it, they had it black anodized. It was a perfect match and honestly, I think it is a more durable finish for aluminum, given that IB is so very thin. Given the relative softness of aluminum I think the .002 or so anodized thickness is probably better there.

So, my answer is, I don't think they'll do it, but call Springer Precision, they were very responsive on that last job.
