You know I was at the range yesterday shooting a plethora of fine 1911s. In comes this seedy looking character with a High Point automatic. Thing is dirty as hell, finish half worn off. He gives it to the gunsmith and asks for a $30 cleaning. The gunsmith goes out back and comes back 5 minutes later, evidently the disconnector was sheared off.

The guy accuses the gunsmith of breaking his gun and demands a replacement. They offer to send his gun in for repair but obviously can't do anything about a replacement. So the guy gets ever more belligerent, telling them he's going to get into some @$it tonight and needs his gun. I notice the serial number was ground off. So I pull the other guy running the counter aside and tell him to call the local PD. They arrive and it ends up this guy has a no bail felony warrant for armed robbery. I wonder what the ballistics testing of that gun is going to show, if they can get it to work.

Bad back and all, Det. Del Pinto takes care of business while shooting maybe the best 1911 collection in the country. Not a bad day John.
