Today was a really great day. I got to complete the auction for Terry Tussey and deliver a very nice check to a very deserving man. :D

Terry has only been back in the shop for about four days since his release from the hospital a few weeks ago. I drove to his shop in Carson City, and spent some time with Terry, his wife Teresa, and John. John has been working in the shop since Terry's accident, keeping things running, and going so far as to bring pistols up to the hospital to get instruction from Terry. They all seem to be in good spirit, and very grateful recipients.

It was a very cool experience. Terry and I spoke for quite some time, and I told him to let us know if there was anything he needed. He's looking forward to getting back to work, and joining us at LTW.

Thanks to everyone involved! And a very special thanks to the winning bidder. The money has gone to a great guy who really appreciates it!

Thanks, Mark!

We appreciate you road tripping down to Carson, and I'm betting it was a very worthwhile trip for you. It's sure nice to actually see the final fruits of the labors of the guys involved with this. I should also mention that without the help of Roy Huntington, this may not have turned out nearly so well. Thank you Roy, for your support of LTW!

Terry, we all hope you get feeling better soon, and get back to building some of the nicest guns anywhere. We're behind you all the way. If there's anything we can do for you, just pick up a phone. There's nothing we'd enjoy more.

Mark,
I have to echo all the comments above. You did us good. I for one am glad you are the one who did this. Hopefully Terry will join us one day and we can pay this forward to someone who needs it. Thanks for the photos.

Great! Good to see the final outcome of the auction, and to see Terry looking good. That's cool about John being there, John, if I can help you help Terry somehow, gimme a ring.

...and thanks to all who bid on the gun!

You know guys, you really are awesome. Thanks for the pics and update, it's good to see Terry getting back to it. I actually admired much of Terry's work before I ever got into custom guns just from seeing a few articles in the magazines. Even before I was initiated, I could tell his work was innovative and a cut above.

I have to say, that in today's world it is hard sometimes to watch the news, here people talk to one another unpleasantly, see how man treats his fellow man and still have faith in people in general. Louder Than Words shows that there are still great people out there, that care about helping others for no reason other than to help. I love this place. I stop here every morning to get my dose of custom guns and a little reminder that we can all make a positive difference.

That's just an awesome thing. You guys do some great work and put your efforts into making this little world of ours a better place. Thanks to everyone here at LTW for being who you are. Good luck and Godspeed, Mr. Tussey, in your recovery.

Terry, It's good to see you're on the mend. I'm really glad we could do something to help, and to echo the comments of my fellow 'smiths, if there's ANYTHING we can do, we're only a phone call away. And thanks to you Mark for making the drive and saying hi to Terry personally from all of LTW.

From Roy Huntington.....

To the LTW Gang,
When I spoke with Terry Tussey Thursday, just before Mark delivered the check,
he was glad to be back, but still had a full plate off doctor stuff to do. He
was also about to get his van and was anxious to have it completed so he can
get some sort of independence again.

I have to say, I wonder how any of us would be after eight months laying in a
hospital bed fighting this sort of thing. Terry still has his chin up and a
can-do attitude. This gesture from all of us definitely helped him to keep his
courage up. He's sort of a man of few words when it comes to such things, but
this hit home — hard. Even if we don't do much else right in our lives, this
one counted.

You know, one of the things I always liked about being a cop was the fact I
could lay hands on something, some situation or someone and have an immediate
positive effect. I could point at it later and say, "There, I fixed that, and
it's better now." We just did that for Terry, and there's no mistake about it.

Thanks again to all of you,
Roy Huntington

Thank you for sharing that.
I wish I could have bought the gun to help, but it was nice just to be here and see it all.

All of you folks at LTW are with out a doubt the best! I have had the pleasure quite a few times to spend time in Terrys shop. I always walked away having learned something from a man who took pride in his work and was willing to share. Boy, you guys set the example of what humanity should be..... My heartfelt thanks to everyone at LTW, just because......

As a side note, one day, maybe 3 years ago when I was at Terrys, Willey Clapp, Terry and I were sitting around shooting the bull and Roy happened to call to ask a question. Terry amused the heck out of us when he hung up the phone, rolled his eyes and said, "You know, by now, you'd think Roy would remember something, ANYTHING I tell him."

My best to you all!

Schlamoo

That is just great! Thanks for sharing the info with us.
I hope to see Terry back at it like he was before.
Seeing some of Terry's work is part of what started my addiction to custom 1911's and I have not been the same since. It is sad when you pick up a Kimber or something along those lines and just think of it as plain and boring. You all have tainted me haha!

I also would like to thank Teresa for keeping up with all the shops Emails and being so kind with everything. I am sending off my deposit shortly to get in like for a Tusey project just as soon as Terry starts the work again.

Mark, Thanks for the personal attention with Terry, and It's wonderful to see Terry back where he belongs, building guns, beautiful guns!

We're all pulling for you Terry, and to recant what everyone else has said, we're just a phone call away..

I have to say, I was proud, and honored to have been a part of this.
Lou

You always hear about all the bad stuff that goes on and then you see this. Things like this helps restore one's faith. Keep up the great work!

Hello all, since this thread has come up again, and since I was wondering about him the other day----does anybody have an update on Terry? Is he back to building some of his fantastic work? If anybody out there talks to him, please tell him that an old hillbilly from Virginia has him in my thoughts and prayers!

Last I heard Terry was trying to get around the shop and work himself back into shape. Everyone was hopeful he would be up and working as much as he wants relatively soon. In fact he will probably contribute to a very special LTW project late this year or early next. Thanks for asking, you guys are the best.

Steve
