We just got the update:

Tickets sold as of Tuesday, September 25, 2007: 988

Not too shabby, but a ways to go yet. I really hope to get into the 'hood of 3,000-or-so tickets sold. That gives americansnipers.org a nice chunk of change to work with, sets an LTW record, and still gives everybody who bought tickets a damned good chance of winning.

Got word today that the raffle will indeed get some further ink in the gun press.

Pics.... soon, honest. Worked on it most of today.....

OK! Have a couple pics for y'all. As I've mentioned I'm always hesitant about showing "in progress" pics but I know this project seems to be taking a long time, so here are a few. Another day's work or so and it goes out to Metaloy for the first part of the finish.

YoBo sights with Shield Driver mod, LTW logo and "4TC1s" engraving on top in front of rear sight.

Stan's magwell, Chuck's frontstrap and lanyard point, VZ grips with black band.

As an aid to inventorying parts on a project like this, I'll lay them all out and take a snap. This goes to the finisher along with a list of parts, so they can confirm as they unpack it that they have all the parts, and then as they repack to ship it back, that they are returning everything I sent.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, because of the "Gonna be used in the war zone where parts availability and support may not be the best" theme, plenty of spares are provided. Especially parts that are easy to lose in poor light, or subject to rolling away when maintenance is done in less than ideal conditions, or parts that, ah, sometimes go into orbit such as recoil spring plugs.

Also, a short and medium trigger are fitted, and both and ambi and single-sided safety are provided since we don't know the preferences of whoever the lucky winner is. Plus one standard and one slightly extended (with miniature golfballing to match front and backstraps) mag catch.

Very nice Ned, Chuck, Don, and Stan. Even naked, this one is a head-turner. I am anxiously awaiting the finished product!

Did not mean to leave off mention of Don Williams who also played a part here-- although he was the heart surgeon, doing the trigger fitting and action work, so it's not as visible.

CSE, I'm sorry I missed your comment about the Single Stack until just now! Indeed it was great catting with you, hope to see you again next year. Appreciate your sentiments on the raffle as well.

Thanks for the pics Ned!

Well-- It's almost back from Metaloy and then off to Ion Bond. I had mentioned these guys in a previous post and put their links but neglected to add them to the running list, so:

Will do, Mark.

Sights for 4TC1s go out to Trijicon tomorrow, they are chipping in with providing the tritium lamps.

Should have the gun back from Metaloy in the next few days. Chris Peters has been great to work with although I feel kinda funny asking him to do his stuff just so I can have it covered up with something else-- like "Senor DaVinci, howzabout painting the ceiling of this here little chapel for us, n' then we're gonna put a really nice suspended ceiling underneath it...."

Not that Tungsten DLC is short of a remarkable coating all on its own. Just that one of its many amazing properties is NOT great rust resistance-- I understand it's about equal to bluing in that department.

4TC1s bounced in and back out yesterday, from Metaloy and to Ion Bond. The Metaloy looked great! And again with the pangs of remorse for putting something on top of the Metaloy but this combo finish is gonna really be the cat's glutes for this pistol.

I was tempted to show some pics of it in Metaloy but-- since that's not how it's gonna be (and the process of inspecting and repackaging for IB took no small amount of time), I decided not to.

Have asked for the quickest possible turnaround at IB so we can get some "real thing" pics out. I think "worth waiting for" will be the phrase of the day once it's back, up and running!

Well, I've bought 5 tickets for myself, and I'm highly tempted to buy another 20 (or alot more :)). One question I did have since I've never seen one of these raffles before, is how does whomever wins the package go about getting the transfer setup and take deliver?

You just find an FFL holder in your area who will handle the transfer for you, like maybe you local gunshop.... we can help you find somebody if it comes to it.

Just checking in and purchasing my tickets. The project looks great and the link to the PayPal made purchasing the tickets really simple.

Thanks for putting together a great package and helping a worthy cause.

I do have a question. I'm currently stationed in Baghdad and won't be back in the U.S. until Sep 08. For those of us military types, will you hold the package until our return?

I bought a couple tickets anyway.

In the future, you might consider http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/ as a worthy cause. They are listed on the Combined Federal Campaign and only have 6.9% overhead. They got my money this year, but could use all the help we can give them.

Thanks for everything you do! I have learned quite a bit lurking around on the forums.

DeanoD, you kiddin' me man? You bet we'll hold it for ya. Going by some of the Emails we've received, there are a lot of guys over there buying tickets. If one of you wins it, well, I just wish there was a way to get it over to you.... but I know the complications and implications there.

Thanks for your service DeanoD, and best o' luck in the raffle!

DeanoD....thanks for your service, and it makes me very happy to see someone else contributing to WoundedWarrior Project. I used to work with John Melia who is the director and one of the founders of the project, and we got to be very good friends. I have thought several times about proposing a project here for their benifit, but was remiss in putting it down on here....thank you for bringing it up. John and his crew are some incredible folks doing a much appreciated service to our warriors returning with injuries and John has been very instrumental in finding jobs for our disabled veterans and doing great things for those coming home with brain injuries, including new federal legislation to assist these brave souls. John knows all too well what it is like to wake up in a hospital, with only the clothes you had/have and little else. He was seriously burned in a helicopter crash and broke his back during an operation in the early 90's while he was with a special forces team. He now travels to various hospitals delivering backpacks filled with niceties and clothes to the veterans, some money, and usually a DVD or CD player to help them pass the time. If the member here would check the website Deano gave, they can purchase either supplies or a whole backpack to go to one of our veterans. One of my girlfriends is a paramedic at Andrews AFB and remembers John making his rounds (when he still lived here in Virginia) and she still talks about how much the veterans cared about John and his team, and how much joy and comfort this small gesture meant to the troops.
Sorry everybody for hijacking the thread, but in light of the topic I hope you will all forgive me!!--John

Not at all, JR. In fact I meant to say, if I am not mistaked we have already discussed doing something for them-- I'll bring it up when LTW gets together at SHOT.

Thanks Ned....if you need any sort of contact for John....let me know and I'll give him a shout.....need to get in touch with him anyway. I think it would be a great project for one of the best causes there is!!! I will be happy to cough up a base gun if possible....maybe a 10mm or .38 Super for something a little different??? Thanks again for allowing me to take up a little space on this....as you can probably tell it is something I have a bit of passion for!--John

Thorn, thanks for making the milestone, that's great!

And ya know what? Five tickets outta 3,000? You're still looking at a 1 in 600 chance of winning this. Them's good odds! And if we sell another 500 you're still at one in 700.... still dang good compared to most anything else.

Remote sales of tickets will CLOSE this weekend, to make sure all mail-ins are in by the drawing. That is to say, that after Sunday, January 27, the only further ticket sales will be "live" at the SHOT Show. If you've been putting this off, do it now! Mail-ins MUST be mailed no later than Saturday the 26th, and to be safe it you mail that day you should send it Priority Mail.
