Another year has come and gone and it is hard to believe. Realizing I don't post as much I do read a lot of the posts here on LTW, and as I expected you guys are keeping up the good work. So having said that it is time for us to unveil the latest LTW project. Again, after the successful campaign last year it was easy for us to stay with Naval Special Warfare Foundation. It is always a pleasure working with the staff, and we whole heartedly believe in the work they do.

Jason and I ended up being responsible for this project this year. After sitting down and going through a few ideas, we thought it appropriate to go with a retro theme. Fortunately for us Joyce Rubino at Colt was wonderful to work with as they donated a new production Colt Series 70 for the build.

There are alot of two tone fans out there and I am amongst them. The thing that set this project apart is all the ancillary items that just seemed to go with it perfectly. We are fortunate to have a relationship with Strider Knives who built a one off custom "BR" model knife. John Ralston may have come up with some of the finest leather to come from his shop. The old school Bruce Nelson influenced rigs in tan with the white stitching. Simply gorgeous.

Clint and Heidi Smith donated the entire Thunder Ranch DVD training collection. Stan Chen donated his newest ammunition offering. Trust me, this is the best ammo most of us have seen. To be honest, I never expected to look at a bullet and admire how nice it was done. This stuff is meticulously produced and if you know Stan at all that should not be a surprise.

Ted was able to have an individual by the name of Tony Hernandez who is a professional photographer donate his time to create some of these pictures and they are fantastic. Tony is a friend and we are lucky to have him working with LTW on this project.

LTW Board member Tony Barnes and the fine people at Brownells donated the parts that eventually went into the build.

The drawing for this project will happen on May 1, 2011 at the NRA convention in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Keep looking here as we get the mechanism up to purchase tickets on the internet. There is an upcoming American Handgunner article coming out soon on this year's effort.

Now the gun.

-New production Series 70 Colt
-Two tone hard chrome under blue slide
-Kart barrel
-Wilson ambi safety
-Heirloom Precision retro grip safety
-Hand checkered 30 lpi checkering
-Custom VZ walnut stocks (which are becoming my favorites)
-Yost retro rear sight
-French bordered slide
-And a number of details that my partner in crime will expand on and provide additional pictures.

As always, all of us at LTW appreciate your support and we always say we would never be successful without all of you on this forum. Hope everyone is well. Be safe. This was a lot of fun for Jason and I to build.

Niiiice package lads! I know that's a bit of work putting everything together, not to mention the gun work itself. Awesome job on it all, and Tony, great job on the pics!

I will definitely be buying tickets for this one. Not just because of the beautiful gun and package but the worthy cause. You guys are an outstanding bunch . I wish there more like you in this world today, so willing to give up your time and skills for such a worthy foundation.

Just love two-tone retro pistols done by true craftsman.

VERY Beautifully Done Nelson Retro Leather.

Awesome pistol. Love the two tone finish. The beavertail safety is very interesting, I really like it.

"This just in" from a SEAL in the war zone:

I'd also like to say "Thanks" for thinking of, and helping the NSW
Foundation. Unfortunately we all know more than one kid who no longer has a Dad coming
home. The NSW Foundation really does great things for the NSW community
and their families, and helps make rough times a tiny bit easier by not letting the families worry about the little things, as they have already taken care of it and stand by to
assist in whatever way they can.

Great news, just got to check the forums for the first time since getting to Iraq. Could we get this post moved to the LTW Projects forum though?

I've been watching this too. O'course I can't by any tickets for myself but I wanted to get some for some friends and customers..... just checked and.....

TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE!

Go here for NSWF's info on the raffle:
http://www.nswfoundation.org/ltwfirearm.htm

At the bottom it says this:
To purchase tickets click here- https://www.givedirect.org/give/givefrm.asp?CID=4730 – follow the instructions for payment and select the COLT 1911 PISTOL from the Program Area drop down menu. Tickets will also be available at the 2011 Shot Show in Las Vegas, NV. American Handgunner generously supports this charitable event.

I just bought several and it's an easy process..... you'll get a confirmation number-- copy and paste it, print it or just Email it to yourself. I don't think a paper ticket is issued, nor is one really needed.

Good luck all and thanks for the support!

Aye thanks for the update. Also a note for others I called and asked the reoccurring monthly purchase option. It will work but you have to specify the date range in the memo area of the purchase form and then call them when you want it to stop to verify that it's been stopped.

Good luck everyone and if I wasn't in the sandbox I'd see you at SHOT.

Taskmaster, thanks for being there for us. You and those serving with you, please know this-- there are a lot of us back here who are thinking about you constantly.

And here's a little task for everyone buying tickets. I want you to do everything you can to reduce your chances of winning-- by telling everyone you know to buy tickets. Let's get this mother rolling with big kickstart here! If we beat our biggest raffle to date and sell 5000 tickets, your chances of winning are still "only" about two thousand times greater than winning a state lottery (seat-of-pants statistic  ).

Plus-- every ticket buyer has my personal guarantee that he or she will be a winner. Get on NSWF's site and really check out what they do-- you'll see what I mean. You help these guys, you win. It helps us all.

Let's make it happen!
