I did a search and perhaps I can already divine the answer from the fact that an EGW or Wilson flat wire recoil spring kit seems to show up somewhat frequently in the posted work orders for many custom pistol builds, but I would still like to hear the positive and negatives of replacing a standard round wire recoil spring with a flat wire spring. I'm all for less frequent recoil spring changes, but is there any other reason I should replace a system I've had no issues with up to this point with a flat wire version? Especially in my current EDC, which is a 4" Bill Wilson Carry Pistol? And do the advantages carry over to the 4.25" Commander size pistols?
