I recently aquired this Winchester model 12. Manufactured 1946. It was a real beater, the stock was beat to heck, and the plastic butt plate, while in good shape shrunk badly. The Winchester sported a barrel approximately 27" with a Weaver compensator that has four interchangable chokes.
I disassembled the entire model 12. It was so dirty, full of gunk, and grime, I would have bet if I put some Tomato seeds in the receiver, and a little water I could have grown a Tomato plant in there!. A can of Gun Scrubber, and G96 oil everything came out perfect. I sanded the stock down to fit the butt plate, refinished it with stain, and Tung Oil. The barrel was cut down to 18.25", the crown, and brass bead was done by Mag-Na-Port.
