Photo of the day... some before and after on a fun little project. A client I built a gun for a few years ago got a Swenson built Colt Commander that at some point lost its barrel positioner. Installing a new barrel positioner isn’t a terribly difficult job to do; once the existing hard chrome had been stripped I fabricated a new positioner and silver soldered it into place. After shaping and sizing the barrel positioner I matched the existing hand-matte slide top then had the slide hard chromed once more. A fun project and nice to have the chance put another Swenson gun back into service.

Nice job Jason. I'm just finishing up a sort of retro build on a CLW prefix lightweight Commander that's going out for plating on Monday. Love doing the S&W rear sights and such. Also notice the addition to the grip safety on the Swenson gun. Haven't seen that mod before.

I really like the look of a traditional Commander hammer with a large hole.

Me too... and it works well with the overall theme of this gun.

Photo of the day… I was asked about the edge lines on this particular checkering job, so here’s a photo taken at the same time but from another angle.

Photo of the day... a before and after from the current Colt build shows the results of fixing a couple of odd factory machining paths that resulted in some gaps that I couldn’t live with.
