Thanks Ned. Desertmoon sent me a pm about it recently. That's the first I heard about it.
That's a huge endeavor. I hope it flies for Desertmoon's sake.
A source of new parts might be nice but I'm pretty happy with the thought of being able to get a shirt or a hat myself!
I actually got wind of this via a "JOKE" thread we had on AR15.com about making AutoMag brass from .308 cases. One of the guys mentioned that AutoMag had been revived "again" and at first I thought he was referring to that Kodiak nonsense....which, with the fun help of Lee Jurras ( RIP, Lee...you were a blast! ) was pretty much gently outed as an elaborate hoax.
Anyhow, after re-reading the post, I realized that the poster had brought up something new. Lo and behold, I ended up speaking with the owner and then one of the lead engineers on the project.
This crew has done amazing things in less than two years including vetting a bunch of different theoretical design changes and implements some necessary ones. They left no stone unturned.
One of the ORIGINAL managers of the Auto Mag project in the 1970s is also on board and he really knows these guns.
I am very stoked at the level of quality they are putting into these guns....and the people who post here, of all people, will understand that the AutoMag will not be cheap....but it will be fascinating.
As Barry knows, if you know what you are doing with these guns, they are VERY capable firearms.
