Hi guys, I have an old S&W Model 40 Centennial J-frame that I am absolutely in love with. It has been in my family since it was new and was carried for years by my father as a boot gun. I recently inherited this pistol from my Dad and I would like to have it refinished and maybe the action slicked up a little bit. The gun is in excellent working condition but the finish is about 70% gone from being carried for so many years in a boot holster. I was thinking about just getting it reblued but then I thought I might have a REAL gunsmith maybe slick it up a bit and maybe even throw on a few custom touches while they were at it but I am not sure what all can be done to this platform. Any help as far as smith recommendations or modifications recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

You might want to try Gene Williams @ Williams Gun Repair in Texas (Send me an email and I'll provide a phone number).

He does a bang-up refinishing job, though I'm not sure what kind of 'custom touches' he can do.

Mr. Williams took a 1937 Brazilian that looked like this

And created this
