Gents,
Ever get one of those deals that's just a LITTLE too good to be true? Well, I recently purchased a Colt Python that had alegedly been tuned by the great Reeves Jungkind. The price was VERY good, so I bit...and got bit. As soon as I took it out of the box, I KNEW that it was bone stock. A quick phone call to Mr. Jungkind confirmed that the gun had never been to his shop. Don't get me wrong, it had a good action; it IS a Python, after all. But, it isn't the scary smooth, 7 pound double action that Mr. Jungkind is known for. Given that I paid a good bit under wholesale for the gun, I am not going to whine too much. But, it does have a finish blemish on the cylinder that Colt says they will fix for around $65. While they have the gun, I was considering having them do an action job in the Custom Shop. 30 years ago, with Ted Tedford at the helm, they were about the best there was. The only two gentlemen who did a better Python action job were Mr. Jungkind and Jerry Moran. I haven't handled a Python with a Custom Shop action in over 20 years. Does anyone have any recent experience with them? Is it worth it to have them tune it while they have it?
