I'm hoping someone hear might be able to help. I have been searching on the internet, but can't come up with anything. I've basically read that these antique guns are junk, and it's a waste of time and money to try and shoot one. I have seen plenty at gun shows, and on the net that are broken. Does anyone know of a smith that could make one of these guns reliable/ shootable with modern .38 LC ammo?

I guess this might belong under the "collectable firearms" section. Please move if appropriate.
Thanks.

Rob...you might check with either Doug Turnbull at Turnbull Restorations or Bill Adair at Restoration Gunsmith. Mr Adair says on his website that he prefers not to work on these guns, but will do so if they are in good mechanical condition to start with. Otherwise he says he might refer you to someone who specializes in these models. Either one might be worth a look...I've always liked the ol' Lightenings for some reason.

Bob's Gun Shop in Arkansas also lists quite a few parts for the Lightenings and other old Colts. I have done quite a bit of business in the past with him, and he is a great gentleman to deal with and has a great inventory of parts for all types of weaponry and with VERY good prices and service!
