Found an old set of smooth rosewood S&W grips I carried on a SW 19 back when thats what cops carried. They were pretty abused. Recontoured them to fit my Behlert 58. Thought a poll was in order.

The wood is nice, but the Pacs seem more"right" to me.

I'd say wood, but only on the stipulation that you go with Spegels', other
than that, stick with the Pach's.

The wood does look nicer, but rubber grips always soak up a bit more of the recoil energy than the wood grips. FWIW, any of my S&W's that get shot a lot have Davis or Pachmyer rubber grips installed, the others have some sort of wood.

I stongly favor wood, but you need some Spegels or at least Ahrends for that nifty revolver. Those on it are___ :roll: , shall we say, questionable.
Never put Goodyears on a nice blue gun unless you shoot it in competion and need help with the recoil of many rounds.

Hey! I kinda like those wood ones.
Of course, I have a similar-looking set on one of my M19s that I rasped down all by myself, which could explain it.

Rubber = icky

Then again, I'd be a little afraid of those woods. It seems that a hard recoiling round would beat up the web of your hand (but then again, I'm a paper pusher and all my calluses are on my tushy).

I'd love to see a pair of these on that gun....

Put some ivory on the old girl, she deserves some dressing up. Mike P. at Mgpsrjr at aol dot com took care of my 1911.

thanks for all the suggestions. The gun is an N frame converted to round butt back before S&W did it. It doesnt have the profile of the new SW N frame round butts. The pachs are Ruger S6 grips. I may have to trace the outline and send it to Spegel. Although some ivories with Smith medallions would look real nice.

Nice revolver!

I really like wood grips and think they look just right as rain on any wheel gun, and those Pacs are just plain ugly.

But...

I’m a shooter and there’s nothing more comfortable to me with the big guns than Pachmayr grips. As icky and ugly as they are, if it were my gun, it’d have the rubber grips on it.
