Hey everybody, as you might recall I am a big fan of the old Fitz special revolvers of yesteryear. I am getting ready to send off a beater Colt Agent to Dave Sams to have it customized and am wanting the Half-Fitz triggerguard modification done to her, but cannot find any photos of this done. (This is where only one side of the triggerguard is cut out, instead of the whole guard....thanks to today's litigeous society!!). I need a picture of this modification if anyone here could help me out....PLEASE!! (I'm hoping maybe Kevin Williams might have some info or pictures for me here....and when is that Fitz book going to be available Kev?????). Thanks in advance for any help you folks might give me!!--John

Ed Lovette just issed the second edition of his book on snubbie pistols. The cover shot is of "the" Fitz pistol. I think you can see a copy of the copy on Amazon.

Regards,

Rob

another technique was to indent the trigger guard with a semi-circle in front of the trigger ,

Thanks Mushinto..ol' friend...that is very close to what Dave did on my Colt. I think a little more metal may have been removed on mine, but unless you are looking for it, it would be easy to miss. I cannot seem to get a good picture of mine from the bottom, as the parkerized finish hides the work in the pictures and I cannot get a way for a good background. I didn't want to take off too much metal, less I find myself across the bench from Lindermant or RCColt one of these days!!! --John

JR,

Paladin Press has reprinted Fitz' book, Shooting, with new biographical forewords by me and Tim Mullin. Also, the latest issue of The Rampant Colt (Colt Collectors Association) has a lengthy article with all my research into Fitz Special revolvers. Thanks for asking.

Regards,
Kevin

Kevin....thanks (I think)....that is one beautiful piece and neat backdrops too! You only made me wait 9 months from the original post :D  ...in eager anticipation!! I would still love to find a 1917 or New Service "project gun" to have Fitzed, but it doesent look like my finances will allow it from this point on, but at least I got Dave Sams to do a "pseudo-Fitz" on the Colt Agent that I carry most of the time now!! But I'd still like one in my favorite calibre .45 Colt (seems like every New Service I see anymore is a Brit in .455 Eley...tons of them around in my area!!)--John
