Hi all!
I have a S&W Thunder Ranch Revolver that I carry daily, for the past six months. I carry IWB with a "sweat guard" but my acidic sweat still manages to find it's way to my gun. :( I wipe it down daily, sometimes twice daily but it is showing rust and slight pit marks on the side next to my body.
To me this gun is carried for it's functionality, not looks. It is basically a "Duty Gun" that I carry Off- Duty. I was considering having it Parkerized and bead blasted. What is the opinions of the members here? I'm not so much worried about the value of the gun because I don't plan to sell it. I do however not want to turn a $1,000 gun in to a $50 Raven.
Thanks in advance for the replies.

Not to be the party pooper but I believe that Tripp Research only does semi-automatic pistols (according to their website). If you don't mind black, Birdsong's Black-T or Ion Bond/DLC might be good options.

Thanks.
I decided on Black T and will be calling Mr. Birdsong in the morning.

I got to this post late. For service and utility, as I also carry daily and yesterday was a perfect example. Worked a wreck and my ballistic vest soaked through in sweat for two hours of Texas heat and humidity. I have a Walther PP that is my OSG and a SIG P228 as a back up.

One has a teflon poly (unnamed for reasons) and the other a metal finish. Both are good but for service and being soaked in sweat on a ballistic vest over 10 years or so get the teflon poly. I have yet to see a bit of rust on it.

The metal plating is good, and I like it and I had my primary P226 done the same way but both have worn through in spots and rust's where it is worn at holster contacts point and also where not coated. Please keep something in mind, if you were jammed in a holster about 10,000 or so time after 10 to 15 years you would be worn too. So do not get this out of perspective.

I had one of my Python's done with a teflon poly. I have had the Python 27 years and have had to have the barrel replaced I have shot it that much. (forcing cone erosion not shot out) It has a Roller Bearing by Walt Sherman. I have two done by him.

Just from seeing my clients service pieces as well as range pieces and many years of firearms in adverse conditions sometype of teflon poly would be best for service. Try calling around or pm me off line and I will tell you what and where mine was done.

Best in your quest.

when you get the turn around please post some pics, I've been contemplating the same dilema with my TR-22.

Blueing looks nice, but I worry about it's practical applications.
