I've been a minor 1911 freak for the past 8 years.

I started shooting K frames a couple years ago, and they are replacing 1911s in my heart (yeah, I know- it's blasphemy!). I'd like to have one customized. Not even sure what I have in mind, but willing to explore.

Can anyone recommend any custom revolver smiths?

Theres plenty of room for the 1911 and any revolver in your heart.

If your strictly talking about SW's, Don Williams has been recomended by a good friend of mine. Not sure if hes still taking work but SDM fabricating (Scott Mulkerin) does very nice work. Karl Sokol does really nice SW work as well, I had a mod. 65 3" I had him build many years ago, and still regret selling it to this day.

As far as Ruger Work, big bore conversions and the like I can personally recomend Hamilton Bowen and John Gallagher. There are a few others that perform Ruger work, but in my view these 2 are on the top of the list.

I will second Bowen and Gallagher. I have 2 blackhawks with John now and discussing a 475 Linebaugh with him. I have had some Bowens and the workmanship is topnotch. I also hear good things about Alan Harton.

Again, I'm not sure which styles of pistols we're talking about, but for a double action carry type revolver, I reccommend Dave Sams, who is currently building a carry Colt Agent for me. I have tried some of his revolver work in the past and it is incredible. His turnaround time is very good as are his prices! Dave is primarily known for his semi work, especially his Match Berettas for the Army Marksmanship Unit, but he does fantastic work on just about anything. http://www.samscustomgunworksusa.com
Also, as Mr. Lamey said..SDM Fabricating does some great work, I have a Colt Delta that I bought off of Gary (above) and it is simply incredible!! (Thanks again Gary! :D ). Cylinder and Slide and Grant Cunningham also come quickly to mind. Any of these should be able to build just about any platform that you would want, Best of luck!--John
