I dunno squat about revolvers, much less Pythons, but I read that it's possible to open the cylinder without marring the cylinder with a turn mark. How is that done? Can this be done with S&W's too, or is this all a buncha hooey?

dork, I believe that if you are careful, you can start thumbing the hammer back until you see the cylinder stop drop down, and then open the cylinder at that point. This should solve the ringing problem. If the cylinder wants to move before the stop is clear, try inserting something like a business card between the cylinder and stop; then open the cylinder.
