Does anyone offer hardchroming for allo-frames airweight revolvers like the 642 or the Colt Cobra? Thanks.

I believe that Metalife does alloy revolvers as well as semi-autos. Chuck Taylor recommends them highly.

I don't know who Novak's used, but my Lwt. Commander was hard-chromed.

I think the issue is going to be the combo of steel and alloy. I sent a note to Ron Mahovsky. We'll see what he says.

There is an issue with the steel barrel and the alloy frame. The chrome process is different for the two materials. This would not be a problem on an all steel gun but you are risking cracking the alloy frame if you attempt to remove the barrel. About the best you can do is have a "spray and bake" finish done on the frame and barrel and then hard chrome the cylinder.

I have a complete post on the Model 38 shown below. Ted worked it over when he was the gunny at Gunsite, hence the Raven on the side of the frame. I later had it refinished by my friends at Springfield's Custom Shop. The frame is black Armory Kote and the cylinder and other steel pares are NP3.

Can Np3 be applied to all surfaces, or does it have the same issues as hard chrome?

I originally wanted to have the entire gun done in NP3. This is what I had to settle for since you can't remove the barrel from an alloy frame without risking cracking the frame. The problem is not being able to remove the barrel and the two different processes for alloy and steel.
