Anybody ever used a Galco 716 the boot lock model. My ankle rig just hit the skids,,,literally! So I am looking at getting one a bit more foot pursuit worthy. I am carrying a J frame 340sc so weight is not an issue. Thanks for any info. Does anyone make an ankle holster other than galco with eyelets to secure them to boots. And if no one else factory produces one will one of you leather artist be willing to make one comparable.

My vote would be for the Alessi ankle holster. I have one I bought used 6-7 years ago wore religously for about 2.5 years 5 days a week and it still works great. It might not be as pretty as when it left New York but it does work. I still use it when I'm going out and cant carry a pistol. A fellow officer in my agency had one of the boot locks for a Glock 27, he didn't care for it at all. I use the Alessi w/a S&W 642 with no problems.

I have an Alessi (older style) that I have been using for close to twenty years! I don't know how Lou does it but it still works good as new and is extremely comfortable. I carry a Colt Cobra and don't even know that it's there. Wouldn't even consider buying another type!

I have to agree with DepMur on the Bootlock...one of my former partners bought one for his Glock 27 also, and no matter what, it always seemed to work itself loose and pull down the top of his duty boots, or managed to trip him up somehow! I also have an "Uncle Louie Ankle Holster" for an airweight S&W 642 and it virtually disappears! I have worn it on many 12+ hour shifts and it is comfortable and rock solid! The only regret I have with it is that I am no longer in Law Enforcement, and could not wear it due to some health issues I have! It is a shame, because I truly enjoyed wearing this work of art....and the fact that it was a present from a great friend who has just passed away, our member "Witherspoon"! I highly reccomend that you look into Lou's products and you wont find a better gentleman anywhere to deal with and stand behind his product!--John

I cant speak for a rig that has eyelets, but I have used the same ankle rig for over 15 years and it still works strong. I was my primary duty back up rig for 10 years and now is my off duty rig occasionally. It is made by Renegade and plain and simple the best ankle rig I have used in my career.
