These two rigs were given to me when I visited Chic in NY. Both are like new and were never used.

The first is for a Colt Police Positive. The back shows Chic's thunderbolt trade mark.

Now, here is the trick. Who can tell me what this second holster is made for?
You will have to think outside the box.

I hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoy sharing them.

My visit with Chic lasted an entire afternoon. It resulted in a three-part series on his life that was published in Combat Handguns. There is a lot of history here.

Regards,

Rob

Nice to see work from the old days (at least for me :D )

I am going to go with a Ruger Hawkeye for the second one.

Hey Rob:
I agree with John.....it's always nice to see good examples and photos of the history of modern holstermaking.

It's hard to tell from the photo how large the second holster is but.....is the holster pouch only about 5 inches long?

The holster is about 5" long or so not counting the shank.

No where close when it comes to what it is for.

Work harder........

Not one of those price tag sticker guns at the grocery store......

Something with a collapsible wire stock, maybe?

Neat stuff. I like seeing this sort of thing.

Re: Mystery holster.
My first thought was a SA revolver, but since the Hawkeye guess was "not even close", I guess that's not it.

Might as well start guessing some weird ones:
The Whitney Wolverine doesn't seem quite right, so I'm going with:

Dardick "tround" pistol.

I think they were designed and made in NYC, weren't they?
The triangular logo on the back of the shank seems appropriate.
So it all fits...at least in my mind.

The log says Chic Gaylord on the top, "Holsters" on the right side and "New York" on the left side. There is a thunderbolt in the center of the triangle.

Keep working on what fits in the brown rig. Like everything else, once you know what it is, it jumps out at you and you say duh!

Enjoy

Gunfighter 45 wins the prize! The holster is for a P-08 Luger. Who would have thought about a concealment holster for a Luger? But then remember, this rig was make sometime in the late fifties or so and Lugers were cool.

As my daughter would say,"Yay me!" and Mr. Garrett, you know P08's are still cool  . Seriously, nice pieces of history.

Hmmm, a Luger. It crossed my mind, but I didn't think it was quite right. Well, there you go.
I suppose it makes sense. The main semi-auto choices were 1911, HiPower, S&W 39, P38 or Luger for a time there.

During my visit with Chic, I was also given one of his catalogs I took some quick pics of some of the pages. I'll get them posted in another link today.

Thanks for all the comments. Chic is recognized as the father of modern concealment leather.
