I can't get any replies from emails or phone calls. It's been 14 months since my payment and nothing from him.

Anybody know how to get in touch with him?

Matt

Wow and I thought I had it bad at 26 weeks for a basic clip-on IWB. I guess whenever it gets here "it gets here". But it would be nice to get updates once in a while.

A year ago, I received my Bulman after a 28-week wait. When I ordered it, he said the wait was 12-14 weeks. He never ignored me, though--so long as I sent a follow-up email ("did you get my email?"). I sent 3 or 4 emails about questions and design, and after placing the 16th week I think I emailed him twice to ask about delivery time. He always answered emails within 2 days. I don't know what can take so long; I think it's the price we pay for buying from someone who's self-employed.

I understand the nature of his business and I'm not one of those consumers that sends weekly emails demanding answers. I'm very familiar with custom manufacturing and I know that our customers expect an update once in a while especially when they inquire about their order.

Just my $0.02... I don't think the "self employed" part plays into it, that is unless you meant to say because he's the only one doing the work. I think lead times are just part of the deal with someone as in demand as Josh, Lou, Matt, John, the crew at Sparks, etc. I know Lou works 6 and sometimes even 7 days a week to keep lead times down. However, if you're willing to suffer the wait what you will get in return is a quality product that will stand up to years and years of use and abuse, ask me how I know.

For me that's worth the wait and then some... especially considering the countless start-up holster "makers" and large production shops who promise fast delivery times for what is in my opinion a product that is generally of inferior quality and design and sometimes even worse.

Matfie -- I certainly can not speak to your situation but just stay with it and in the end I'm sure you'll be so happy with the product that wait time will begin not to matter. :)

I am a prime example as I just recently received 3 amazing holsters from Mr. Bulman

I have been away awhile, so I am just now getting a chance to respond.

I have dealt with Bulman Leather in the past and that is why I ordered another holster from him. Not wanting to bother him with a phone call I used the online option to order through PayPal (which is how I placed my previous order) on June 16, 2006. I waited eight months before attempting to contact Josh with an email and few phone messages. No reply. I waited another five months before another attempt with an email and few more phone calls. No reply. One more month again an email and few phone calls. Nothing. Finally, this week Monday September 10, 2007, I called and Josh answered the phone. I gave him my name and date of order. He couldn't find my name in the queue and it turned out that PayPal for some reason did not forward the order to him and I never got in line for a holster. He offered two options, a refund or a holster. I took the holster. He resolved the problem very well, as I always judge a company by how they fix the problem (now this issue isn't completely resolved as I don't have the holster yet, but so far so good). I will update this post once I receive the holster.

For you future purchasers of Bulman Leather; I asked Josh what the best way to place an order was and he told me by phone.

As you can tell from my time line, I am a very patient person and understand wait times for quality custom work. Knowing how busy the premier holster makers are I expect a wait, but I also expect replies to emails and/or return phone calls when messages are left -- I am kinda funny that way.

I just got my order in after about 22 weeks.... Hell, it took me over 6 months for my Milt Sparks order to get in. I'm rapidly learning that you just can't rush quality....

I spoke to Josh about three weeks ago or so. He is behind. On the other hand, I have known Josh for several years and both from first hand experience, and by the company he keeps (LTW) I know that he is honorable and will always "do the right thing."

I guess the best things in life are work waiting for. Everyone I know in the custom holster business if 6 months or more behind. One maker, who is very well known despite NEVER having advertised at all, is two years behind.

My best answer to the problem is order the holster before you buy the pistol. After all, you can't have a holster without the pistol to go in it. Honest honey!

I have holsters by everyone. Everyone. No one does it any better than Bulman. Worth the wait.
