Based on a previous post, I was told that an Officer's size holster is best with a bit more leather on bottom due to shorter slide. Is this true? Any advice or pix of your favorites?

For me it's true for an IWB, but not for an OWB.

I agree with Mushinto for IWB carry. The Officers sixed pistols are wonderful for packing, but their shortened slide seems to be just the perfect length for the muzzle to "pinch" my sciatic nerve or my "love handles" no matter where I move the holster to in appendex carry. I too had an excrutiating day in public like another post about going to Disney Land....couldnt take it off, and couldn't live with it. By that night when I was able to remove the dagblamed thing, I could barely walk for several days. Anyway...sorry to be so long winded, but yes, I find that wearing a little longer leather to help cusion that part of my body and my pistol, making it much more comfortable. I usually carry my Officers in a Sparks Summer Special for a Commander (and this year will be trying out a nice holster that RcColt made for me recently. Not the prettiest, but damned if it ain't comfortable in all the right spots)!--John

Well, I have plenty of commander holsters so maybe I'll just use those and not worry about an specific Officer's model.

I vote Comptac. its not leather but it is thinner and I can adjust the cant to fit perfect.

It has a very good hold and is thinner than leather. I hardly know its there with my LWOAPC.

I cut the sweat guard off and made a thin, comfortable holster even more so.

Here is the web site. They have another with leather backing to reduce the need of modifications. They are well respected with the plastic pistol crowd. A 1911 looks better in leather but, this works better.

Have a look. The Minataour is the higher end one with flat leather as sweat guard.
