I'm looking for a leather holster in black that will fit a Wilson Combat CQB Tactical LE with a Insight Technologies M3X light. The only leather holster I've seen was the Galco Halo holster, but I would prefer not to have a thumb strap. Any info?

I don't think you'll find one in leather without a thumb break. Since the lights are normally larger than the pistol is in the dust cover/trigger guard area, the holster above that area has to be big enough for the light to pass through going in and out. Consequently, it's too oversized in that area to secure the pistol without having a thumb break. If the holster was molded as we usually do, it'd be like sticking your hand in a cookie jar, making a fist and then trying to withdraw it.

Damn I was kinda worried about that. I know Blade Tech makes a holster, but the kydex wears the finish un-evenly.

One possible solution to this problem might be a Hank Sloan-type, adjustable-welt holster à la the current Milt Sparks #200AW or #HSR.

Yes, the #200AW and #HSR are revolver holsters, but the same design/retention principle has been applied in past - and reasonably successfully, I think - to the 1911 platform (e.g., the now-discontinued Milt Sparks #1AT, etc.).

Perhaps the crew at Milt Sparks has another idea or two on tap as well...

Maybe a phone call would tell...

(NOTE: This post expresses an idea, not an endorsement, much less a condemnation of any other holster makers. YMMV.)

Check with Rusty Sherrick. He is supplying the LAPD SIS unit with holsters that accept the SIS Kimber with attached light. There a nice looking rig and I'm sure he can do one minus the thumbbreak since he is a custom maker. www c-rusty.com

I emailed Rusty and waiting for a reply, hopefully with good news.

If you wind up having to go with kydex, check out Raven Concealment, I have one for my Rock River Tactical with a Insight Procyon and it's a great setup. Conceals great and is the only kydex rig I own. Bought it for the same reason, needed one for a gun mounted light.

I checked out Raven. Do you have any pictures of your holster? Mainly pics of the backside of it? I would like to see how the belt loops look. How does it wear your finish?
