Hi John,

My love for Maks stemmed from my father, whose first gun was a Mak. I didn't really do much on this Mak other than a mirror-polished blue by a refinisher recommended by Alan Tanaka, a trigger job by me, and gold-plating of the trigger, safety, and extractor by me with a home plating kit. The grip came unfinished from Marschalgrips.com and I did the final finishing with stain and oil. Other than these features, it is about as stock as it comes in all its Bulgarian glory. :)

Way back in the day Makarov.com was offering a dovetailed sight package on a Mak but it was going to cost as much as the pistol so I passed. Thought about doing something to the front strap but it actually stays in my hand well so decided against it. Anyway, here are some not so great photos to show the gun:

Coming along nicely.....glad to see that you're sticking with it, and improving along the way! Best wishes to you!--John

Great looking Mak and good work on the holsters! I'm not trying to be critical of your work as I've never even tried any leather work but I think putting a small radius on the snap straps, rather than 90 degree cut, would really take it up a notch. Keep up the great work!

I found this link on Tucker's gunleather site http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 7787434870. I thought it was pretty interesting and thought you might like to check it out. Merry Christmas everyone!
