Ladies and Gents,

Shortly after the first post for the finished LTW#2 project, I started to get a few ideas in my head about my next custom build, as I had a Springfield GI in my arsenal just screaming to be reworked. While Ned and John did a simply amazing job on that collaboration, and they gave me about 75% of the ideas for my Springer, there were a few small things I wanted to change. First, I had never owned a parkerized gun. Parkerizing has always interested me, and I really like the subdued look it gives. Also, I had never owned a gun with serrations, so I figured I’d give that a try. The gun and all the parts I had for it went off to Dave Sams and he took care of the rest.

The full write up on the finished gun can be seen here: http://www.louderthanwords.us/forum/viewtopic.php?t=803

One thing I needed (absolutely had to, without a doubt) have after seeing LTW#2 was a custom leather carry rig. The leather for LTW#2, like the leather for LTW#1, was simply amazing to me. The detail work and finish made all my mass-produced leather look like garbage. Joshua Bulman’s contribution to the project was the first I had ever heard of him, and it was all the advertising I needed.

I have struggled for the last few years to find something comfortable at local shops and through production leather companies, but have had little or no luck. I am a power lifter by hobby, and I could find something that fit while I was cutting weight, but when I was trying to add bulk I just couldn’t spare the extra room in my waistband for an IWB rig. Buying a separate set of pants was out of the question, so I called Mr. Bulman and discussed my options for a rig that would allow me to use it throughout my weight fluctuations without any discomfort or major adaptations. He suggested the FBS-H, or Full Belt Slide High Ride, since an IWB would defeat the purpose of getting one that fit year-round. So, I ordered the FBS-H, one of his outstanding Urban Gun Belts in 1.5” configuration, a single mag pouch, and a double mag pouch. To accommodate my waist flux, he cut the belt a little extra long and added 2 extra holes, one on each end, to allow me to adjust, and threw in an extra belt keeper to slide on for taking up slack when I got on the low end. I spoke to him twice on the phone and twice using PMs, and it was like he could read my mind. What I got in the mail this past Monday was EXACTLY what I wanted.

I want to say THANK YOU, JOSH BULMAN! You have made a lifelong customer out of me.

GOD Bless,
~Jim Keeney

What a great setup. Beautiful shooter, and Josh's work is first rate. Nice pics of both Jim. 8)

W  W, Jim, nice stuff!! You certainly have a nice looking rig there, my friend. And your photography skills are getting right up there with Steve's.

This young man, besides being a power lifter (BIG DUDE!) and a true fan of 1911s, is finishing up his degree from VA Tech, student teaching, is a heck of a pistol shot, loves the Lord, a loyal friend, a hard worker & is a good guy. Somebody's kids are going to be well served and very well protected whenever and wherever he starts his career in education

Steve,

Thanks for the kind words. Taking photos for me is a test in creativity since I have very little to work with in my apartment. I have to hide the mess and choose a backdrop out of a very limited supply of textiles. I thought my Carhartt coat would work, and I just set it next to the window and snapped a few. Not too scientific, but I'm glad they show some of the details. I REALLY need to invest in a small tripod, remote release, and some simple lighting. Your photography always amazes me, and I am simply trying to not look foolish when I post mine.

CT,

Josh did a great job on this. It is, by far, the best and most comfortable rig I have ever used. I am ordering a commander holster to match, and may get one to fit a Beretta.

Witherspoon,

You're making me blush, my friend. Thank you for the compliments. I am student teaching in Botetourt County, just northeast of Roanoke, in a middle school with a modular technology lab. The middle school and modular lab parts were two of my biggest fears in teaching, and I have been pleasently surprised with how well it's gone so far. My mentor teacher is a great guy (huge Harley fan/rider/owner), and has helped alleviate my fears. With a little grace from GOD and some long nights, I hope to graduate in May. I am, however, strongly considering going back to active duty unless I find the "perfect" teaching position. None of the VA youth corrections facilities have technology education openings, and since my math minor won't be finished when I graduate (I need 3 more sequenced classes), I am limited in my choices. Besides, I miss the service and being around soldiers. Personal accountability to and responsibility for superiors AND subordinates is something I miss in civilian life. Only time will tell.

GOD Bless you all, and thanks for the replies.

~Jim Keeney

i have owned a couple diff. holsters from other custom makers and i have yet to see one that is better than josh's FOR ME.

not saying i will never buy an allessi or del fatti ect. just for right now im kinda stuck on his stuff. :)

he has the best attitude hands down compared to an east side leather maker that is famous for his "character". lol.

Jim, nice pics! I'm glad that you are enjoying the leather as much as I enjoy making it.

Josh
