Back in November, Steve Bailey posted a report and pictures of a prototype holster from Lou Alessi - the PCH.

As an update on this development, I received my (non-prototype) PCH several days ago, and have been wearing it daily since.

I'm not much of a wordsmith, so I'll just say that this is without a doubt the most comfortable IWB holster I've ever had the pleasure of strapping on.

Get your orders in, people. You will NOT be disappointed.

You da man, Lou. Thanks for another great design in your never ending search for perfection.

As soon as I grow up, I have got to get one of those 5" 1911's I've been hearing so much about!

I too, came home today to find a package with those majic words on thesender label , Alessi Leather :D . After that is a moment of frustration while I struggle to open the box , followed by exhilaration as the contents emerge . In this case , my PCH for a 5" 1911 , holsters for a Commander and a Kimber Ultra to fit my Bodyguard , and a CQC-S that Lou graciously replaced free of charge due to a tiny bit of looseness .

The smell of new holster leather , the perfect stitching , and the flawless finishing all combine to flood the senses . I had to try all the guns in their new holders , and then wear them around just to preen .

One last comment . I just received the PCH today , so I haven't had a chance to put it through a proper testing phase , but I knew after reading Jason's and Steve's comments that this was a winner . Lou truly used his genius again though , I can see that , and this rig really is remarkable ! The comfort and functionality are the pinnacle of IWB holstermaking as far as I can see , and I have representative examples from each of the most highly regarded holstermakers in the country . In my individual case , Lou achieved something that is very hard even for him to do . A holster has to come out just perfectly to have a "snap" as the gun is fully inserted . It's my understanding that the craftsman can cut the leather from the same pattern , mold it the same way , hand bone it , and finish it with all care and still not quite get that snap . Both of these two belt holsters have the snap , and the panache , of the greatest living holstermaker's art . Congratulations and thanks Lou...Tom

Hey Lou,

I was still waiting for my prototype and here you got them on the market already.

Ya know every good leather Smith needs a fat boy for a test case.

Oh Well I was a sleep at the wheel again.

I'm encouraged to see that so many members of the forum are having their orders filled by Lou.

In addition to my being genuinely happy for you, it means my order for a cordovan PCH with brown shark loops, and matching cordovan belt and mag pouch is getting that much closer to the top of the stack!

Please, Mr. Postman.......

I've been wearing this rig since February. It is one of the thinnest and lightest IWB I've ever used. It comes ready to use, no need to stretch or slick it up with leather treatment ointment. It conceals really well, drawing is quick and smooth, holstering is effortless even though the rig does not have a reinforced band. Holstering one handed is a breeze. Here are my pics.

Hey Uncle Lou - I hope you don't mind if I add that style to my line-up, do you? I figure if it is good enough for you it must be good enough for me.

Anyway, when I market it I plan on using the following slogan:

"When not quite as good as Alessi is good enough" :P

Glad to find another good place to hang out -

John

That's not much of a threat - I can screw that thing up all on my own!

Does Lou sell direct or is there a Best place to order. I guess I should get my order in now since the list appears to be growing!

There are a few places that try to stock Alessi holsters but the best one I know of doesn't have any PCHs at the moment. Best to get your order in with Lou direct (LFAlessi@cs.com) and find a shelf of good books to read in the meantime. It'll be a while, although he says his backlog is a little lighter now, since he's fulfilled some military priority orders.

The wait's well worthwhile, believe me. Good leather and a real gentleman to deal with.
