Looking for a client gift. He just received a 6" Freedom Arms in 454 Casull (with an extra 45 Colt cylinder). Since it will be scoped, Lou's Fieldmaster won't work.

Any suggestions for a holster that will work well in hunting situations? If it can include a pouch for ammo and also the extra cylinder, that would be cool too! Thanks.

I know they are not real popular around these parts, but I carry mine in an Uncle Mike's Bandolier style holster and it works great. No pouches for ammo or spare cylinders, though.

Hoser,

Actually, Freedom Arms lists/makes one themselves, and it's a pretty nice rig. It's a shoulder holster, but with a scoped gun, I think that's about the only feasible way of carrying. As for the pouch for the extra cylinder, I think that'd be a bit of a pain. Not only is that a very heavy cylinder, but there's no easy way to change it in the field. The base pin is set-screwed into the frame, and, at least on mine, the pin is VERY well fitted.

go to http://www.freedomarms.comand check under accessories, leather scopes.

Yes, I will advice the same choice as Mr Jim Keeney.
It distributed well the heavy weight of my 7"1/2 Scoped Freedom A.
The holster mod is the "X-style" code# is ( 964-06/ 6") mod is the X-style and retails for $ 125.
For the ammo pouch, I prefer the the flap model, it keep my extra five rounds claner than the open top mod plus it looks more nice for me.
you can ask to Mr C.Rusty from C-Rusty Sherrick custom holsters to make you a custom cylinder carrier. I have heard good coment about his hunting holsters. but the ide of the extra weight doesn´t look practical for me in field conditions, Also I consider it a really nice complement for the preasent package.
