Hello
I have been a member for a short time but have seen many act's of kindness here. Recently I thanked Mr. Alessi for a fine job he did on a holster I was fond of that broke.I also have been Blessed with the friendship and simular acts of kindness from him as well. I placed and add several months back, looking for a old Burns-Martin shoulder holster. This was before I found the factory S&W one, that Mr. Alessi repaired and I now use daily. I was answered by member Matt of Lamney Knifes. He told me he had one but needed to locate it along with the straps to make the harness. Several months passed with and occasional E-mail between us and Matt was real busy like me, but the holster issue never died & did kind of Laugh as it never seemed to gel. He said he would send it one day, and to my surprise it arrived in the mail just last week. He is a man of his word, and at that time did not know what and important role this holster would play at this time of year. My Father lives 750 miles from me and is alone since my Mother passed three years ago. When I was a youngin, Dad was a cop for the Town of Greece, Police force in a suburb of Rochester, New York. I can remember going with him in his patrol car on Saturday mornings to a place that was donated for Police to use as a practice location to sight for revolver's, shot guns, and rifles. The Range Master was his Seargent and a good family friend, and allowed me to come as long as I was quiet and stayed back as they practiced there combat shooting methods. This was my first taste of S&W revolver love that would later grow into a burning passion.I have a few decent older S&W revolvers in my modest collection, and enjoy them all. In the Mid 60's Dad decided to move on and quit the Police force. He has always loved to hunt, shoot and took me when ever he had time. Since Mom has passed he has turned to Trap shooting for his main stay of recreation, and seems to enjoy this twice a week. He mentioned about a month ago, the urge to get back to carrying a revolver for his saftey, and peace of mind. Quickly he mentioned how much he had missed the old S&W model 36 flat latch .38 special along with his favorite Burns-Martin holster that he sold years after he left being a cop. He is 75 and seems to reflect back then often, and I listen, even though I have heard most of the important things he remembers from years past. This is what a Son is supposed to do right ? Then he mentioned in my travels, if I come across and old model 36 to let him know. I managed to make a few connections and got a nice model 36 that dates 1954. This would have been about the same time frame as he was a cop. Then the holster showed up from Matt, and I figured what a PERFECT surprise this would all be in a wrapped Christmas present. Well, the package is now complete as shown and he will be visiting next week for a two week stay. I have shot this revolver, found the sweet spot in hand loading for it, and have 50 rounds for him to start with after Christmas morning. Matt, My hat is off to you, You have just made a 75 Year old man VERY happy, along with his Son and he will be shocked when he opens the surprise under my Christmas tree, on Christmas morning. Thank you so much for coming through, and I will not forget this act of kindness as well. Best regards, Kurt Vogler
