This is an unsolicited plug for Matt. Some people probably figured out that I'm a holster junkie, especially for fine classic style holsters. I was surfing through Matt's website and came across two classic style rigs very, very, very similar to Bruce Nelson's #1 and Summer Special.

Here is Matt's SLP which looks so much like the original Nelson #1.

And this one below appeared to be his rendition of the original Summer Special.

Jason, check them out. :)

Those are absolutely stunning... I'm working pretty hard to hide my jealously right now.

I dug out one of my old Nelson #1s and a Nelson Summer Special just to compare and those rigs from DelFatti are spot on! The stitching, the molding, and the light tan color are so similar to the examples I have here one may be hard pressed to tell them apart.

Very nice stuff my friend... 8)

Now how's about you send them to me for an extensive field testing. :D

Dude, I guess I didn't make myself clear in my original post. :)
Those aren't mine, wish they were. The pictures are from Matt's website. Just wanted to let folks out there in webspace land know about Matt's gorgeous gears. His site is http://www.delfatti.com

If you place an order, order one for me and you can give it to me at the SHOT show. :)

Thank you both for the kind comments.

Geez Richard, you should have looked down at the display case last year! Both those holsters were for sale at the SHOT show but no one wanted to give them a new home so they ended up coming home with me (later sold).

I made mine with double stitching because, uh, I can :D Image

I'm afraid you wont get it before SHOT show if you order it today. Matt's work is great but it's like getting a pistol done. Make your order, forget about it and then when it shows up you are suprised and happy.

Please, please, please snap some pics of both and post them here. I'd really appreciate it, and I'm sure others would too.

Wow Matt, If I'd seen that holster, I would have bought it. Meanwhile I have to save up some money. :)

That's a good idea! I have a used original Nelson SS I got from a kind customer who bought it new. I could take a photo of that if you like but I got no #1 (damn it). Come on Jason, get out that camera!

I took a picture of the 1995 Gunsite catalog showing the SS, #1 Professional and several other items.

This is how it looks when worn on the belt.

The rarely shown flip side of the holster showing a leather tunnel and the trailing slot for the belt.

I have been using Matts stuff for over ten years. Il ike to think of my self as one of the originial Delfatti boys. Everything he does works, looks good and gets the job done. My first rig was a LP for a Sig 229 and a belt, Bought when I first made detective 11 years ago. I still use them and they are good as new. You can not find a better holster and a better guy.

Those are truly stunning holsters, nice work. What kind of wait are we looking at for some of these fine holsters.

Matt, If Bruce were still with us today, he'd be jealous. The execution of those holsters is stunning! A great tribute to the man who started much of what we do today.

Came across this on one of the forums. I wasn't really looking for an SOB, but I had to check out some of Matt's work first hand. Still don't know if I really want an SOB, but I'll probably keep it anyway. It's just too nice to let go... :)

Lou and Alex:
Thank you very much!

Huevos:
I’m glad you like the work! I too think there are much better choices in holster designs than an MOB for most people BUT some folks have a compelling argument for one. As long as a customer understands the limitations and pitfalls of the design, I will build them. Much has been made of the possibility of back injury in the event of a fall wearing a holster of this type. But I think you'd have to fall flat on the small of your back (a pretty hard thing to do), instead of your shoulders, butt or side for that to happen. It kind of reminds me of the old argument against wearing shoulder belts (when they were separate in a car) because, some claimed, they could crack your ribs in an accident. In the big picture though, even if that was true, you were better off with the shoulder belt. The same with the MOB. If that's the only way a person can carry a gun, at least it affords them the protection of a gun. I think, as a custom holster maker, it would be pretty arrogant of me to TELL a customer what they should or shouldn't use. Instead in the case of less experienced customers, I ask questions about their carry needs and circumstances, listen to their responses and, as best I can, provide the pros and cons of various design features in order to help them decide what they need since I'm only an "expert" on my particular carry needs. Just my 2 cents.
:D

Hell, Lou, I think Bruce's spirit jumped in and took over for a bit!
Matt, you're not feeling the urge to put the badge back on and do some narc busts are you? Very nice, as usual.
