Hello,
I'd like some suggestions for a paddle holster for my 3" and 4" Smith N frames. I have a Safariland 518-183 that I really like for my Glock 27, but I can't find anything similar at the moment for my big N-Frames. I'd like something similar in black basketweave for the revolvers.
Thanks

Matt Del Fatti has an SSK for revolvers, I bet he can hook you up. Tony Kanaley at Milt Sparks will make a HSR rig for your revolver, although the rig isn't in the catalog.

Thanks....tried Milt Sparks....they didn't offer much hope for a paddle holster for me....I checked De Fatti too...No paddle holster...is there a reason no one seems to make a paddle holster for an N frame??? Too heavy???

I've never seen a custom, high quality maker who does a paddle. Only assembly line factory offer paddles. I've never had a paddle rig that is 100% secure or stable. Safariland 560 and 5183 series are the closest to workable paddles. They stay on the belt when you want them to, and fairly simple to take off when you want to remove them. Galco, Bianchi and some of the other factories have paddles that are too easily removed from the belt during the draw stroke and some other makers have paddles that are impossible to remove unless you almost undressed.
Stick with a belt holster, it's not that much trouble to remove or put on.

What about when I get old and start wearing Sans-A-Belts???? I don't like shoulder holsters.......I REALLY like my Safariland paddle holster....And before that I was never a holster guy...just stuck them in my waistband. But I reached a point where I refused to buy larger pants as an incentive to lose some of my gut, and now it's just too uncomforatble to stick a revolver in my waistband, and I haven't lost enough of my gut yet despite eathing healthy and running!!! (I started all this 3 days ago...)

Well, you'd think that after three days of clean livin' you be down to a whole new wardrobe! :?

That would be my philosophy, anyway.

I agree with you, Bill. I like a paddle holster, too.

Just got back from our little liquor tour...I ate more today than I did in the last week.....Hamburger, Steamed Mussels, Mussel Soup and Apple Strudel with Ice Cream....I'm afraid to look at the scale....Oh, and then there was the beer....[/code]

Bill, If I may make a suggestion? I have a friend who's known to myself and a couple of others on the forum name of Lane Raab. Lane came up with a holster design after much brain storming that' an IWB for larges revos. His secret is that his design carries the cylinder above the belt, so no need for larger pants. It's a very well executed design, and he's getting some write ups in the gun mags. If you're interested, you can find his website at http://www.caboholsters.com. Best,

Thanks for the suggestion...Here's what I came up with from Haugen. I like it to wear with jeans and a sturdy belt, plus it has a loop in the back that snaps over the belt for extra security. The only thing I don't like is that I specifically said it was for a 3" bbl, but the holster is 3/4 of an inch too long for the 3" bbl....Although on the plus side, I can also use it for my 4" N-Frames...Also, my gut really isn't that big, it's just an optical illusion with the way the light is coming through the widow and bouncing off of the refrigerator behind me..
