Is the boning of leather more a cosmetic thing or function? I'm assuming (assume dangerous word) that I know what boned leather is...where you can see many of the actual details of the gun impressed in the leather because of laborious hand fitting or pressure or something
So, are these marks just proof of special hand detailing or are they actually functioning to hold the gun more secure? Can a holster be Hand boned and be absent of these impressed marks? I've seen some high end custom leather maker's holsters that are all absent of these boning marks and was wondering if their holsters had lesser fit to them or if it was just a cosmetic choice for the maker's style?
