Well I spent the better part of an hour yesterday talking with John of 5Shot leather and his wife. First off, they are very down to earth, friendly, and just plain good people. I've had an order in with John for a while, so we spent time discussing some holster options. John actually gave me a CBS holster to take home and try, and then I'll be meeting him tomorrow to talk about it.

Get your orders in while you can, John is about to be very busy. His work is absolutely impeccable. I'm very very impressed with the quality of his holsters. I've owned holsters from all the big names, and his rank right up there. I was a little skeptical about how well the CBS would conceal a fullsize 1911, but there was no need to worry. It pulls the butt of the gun in extremely close to your body, in fact for me, it conceals better than my Alessi CQC, which was my gold standard of OWB concealment holsters. Not knocking my Alessi CQC, cause it is awesome.

I will be writing John a check and keeping this CBS, it is just that good.

I placed my order for an uncle lou, belt and mag pouch a couple of Sunday's ago. When I called a young child answered the phone who could not have been sweeter, who then routed my call to John. You can tell a lot about a man through such brief interactions and I was impressed. I don't just want a good quality set up, I want one made by a good man, and I think 5Shot fits both criteria.

I didn't talk to John about this when I placed my order, but I lost my seventeen year old son October 28th and I'm going to request an In Memory Of on the inside of my belt, if he can do this, and I bet he can. I'm also going to discuss changing from shark trim to elephant, since my wife has seen his elephant work and loves it.

I am going to talk to John about these things when he calls to confirm my order just before build, and that is one of the nice things about dealing with a guy like John. My gear will not only be made to custom fit my firearm, but to me as a person, and will be truly special.

Astark,

I don't know you but I know that we aren't supposed to survive our children. My condolences to you and your wife.

I have the name of a friend carved on the inside of a sixgun rig. I think of him each time I put it on.

(Sorry for the threadjack Scot).

Best,

-R.

Thanks guys! It was definitely a great show for me, and getting to put some faces with the names was definitely over due.

The LTW guys were great (as always), and getting to check out all of that craftsmenship in person was awesome.

Mr. Stark -

Consider it done....we will get the details worked out when the time comes....I am sure he will be honored.
