OK, I know their big for daily ccw, but if you were to carry, would you go IWB or OWB? If so, what's your favorite?

Kramer belt scabbard or IWB3. I have one for my Model 15 and Model 29, extremely comfortable and built like a tank.

Kramer states IWB #3 is only for semi autos. Are you sure it's not #2?

Sorry and I don't know how I missed that but for an IWB I use an Alessi Hideout, the OWB is the Kramer. Kramer makes very nice stuff especially their horsehide rigs and ship within a few weeks compared to the longer wait of the rest. Their belt rigs are nicely detailed and solid. Can't understand why they don't seem to get as much attention as say Alessi, Sparks or Garrity. Another maker you might look at is Tauris holsters based in Utica New York. Lou Alessi referred them to me once as he didn't have a dummy to make a rig I was looking for and if Lou recommends them you can count on it being good! It's just a matter of preference, I have rigs built by most of the "big names" but the little guys do it as well and some better. John Ralston of 5SHot makes some really nice rigs also. A wheel gun is just a lot harder to conceal due to the cylinder but it can be done as long as you dress appropriately to conceal it. You might want to check out the S&W forum, there's a lot of discussion on the topic there.

I carry a 629 Mountain Gun in a Sparks 200AW with the leather hammer shroud which I love. I really like the holster and it carries great walking or on horse back due to the tension adjustable screw. I carry it OFTEN year round in bear country. Its only imperfection is the lack of a sight slot causes my serrated front sight to very often come out with leather embedded in it which is annoying. Its not concealable unless you live somewhere where heavy shirts or vests is common.

I'm planning on getting a S&W 696 as my winter carry gun, why?... just so I have an excuse to get a holster like the #45 in Del Fatti's photo gallery! It looks like the perfect wheelgun CCW holster to me. Its stunning!

In general, do IWB support and carry and (obviously) conceal better and easier than OWB for large N-and L-frame revolvers?

Tough question and I'd say depends on what purpose the gun serves. Naturally OWB carry is more comfortable but a big wheel gun is hard to conceal which would be where IWB comes in.
If I were out in the wood up here I'd prefer an OWB or even a shoulder rig but in town, the IWB so you don't upset the good folks. Realize thats not much of an answer but it has to be your choice.

OWB-Sparks PMK. I used on for my Model 19 and another gentleman had one for a 686 while we were at Thunder Ranch for Clint's revolver class. The PMK holds the weapon tight to the body, yet was fast enough for the thousands of presentations made during the 3 day course. Sparks made the holster for me in under 8 weeks (Feb-March 04) knowing that I needed it for the class. They told up front that they could meet the deadline, did not charge my card until the day it shipped and delivered a great product.

I went with the Sparks PMK because Steve at rafter S reccommended them after saying: " I have never had a holster of mine go thru a revolver class that I know of. I know my Glock/1911/Sig etc holsters will do you just fine, but I want you to be happy and get your money's worth out of the class. I know that the Sparks PMK will work. Get your class holster from Sparks. Just remember me if you ever need a belt..." Perhaps only in the firearms world are therre so many class acts and true craftsmen.

I carry a thin 5" 1911 IWB daily in a VM2, but I can't imagine trying to wedge that huge wheelgun inside my waistband!

Does Lou's Hideout have a snap loop for easy on/off capability or is this a fixed loop? Lou, if you're out there, appreciate your input.

Also, do you make a PCH-style (with snap loops) for K or L frame revolvers? I love my PCH for 1911's so thought I'd ask. Thanks!

Yeah, that Sparks #200AW looks like a cool field holster. Anyone else use this one? Looks like it'll work with fluted as well as unfluted cylinders which would make this convenient for all my 3" N-frame Smiths! Would you guys choose unlined or the lined option and why?

I'm still looking for the perfect CCW holster owb. I've decided on Lou's Hideout for my iwb carry! 8)

Mine is lined b/c they told me it was nicer. When the thing came it was such a work of art I couldn't wear in the field for awhile lest I scratch it. I would ask Tony if either lined/unlined was less likely to leave leather in the serrated ramped sight and go with that one. I'm sure either way is going to be a great holster. I would still look at Del Fatti's wheel leather. Good Luck!

I made this holster a couple of weeks ago for my 4" N frame 610 , it's so comfortable I can wear it all day.

Here are pictures of the moon clip holders you asked for. They work pretty well.

Very nice holster there! Moonclip holders look good too. I just picked up a 610 6.5" a couple weeks ago and love the gun so far. I did modify it some to prevent the lock from actually blocking the hammer all together, dont want to take the chance of it jamming the gun up like some have claimed. I plan on sending the gun out to bowen to have it converted over to 10mm magnum and do a little bit of deer hunting this fall with it.
