Never owned horsehide and wondering if it's less comfortable IWB due to it's stiffness.

Not in my experience. They are firm, but are still leather, and will break in with use.

I have three horsehide IWB's for different size 1911's. All broke in and are very comfortable. I can't tell the difference in feel between them and cowhide.

Id say its not as simple as that!?...
It depends on the design, gun being carried and the person. Ive had uncomfortable plastic and HH IWB's before.....the thinner HH can be more forgiving than a couple of the nuclear bomb proof ones Ive seen over the years also. Cowhide/steerhide is a great all around material, but HH has its place in the holster world also.
The correct answer is "It just depends!"
Shoot well and god bless

Buy mine at a hugely discounted price, and find out.... :D

Honestly, there isn't a discernable difference that I've been able to ascertain....

I read somewhere on one of these gun board's say that HH is nature's kydex. I think that has a nice ring to it.
I think that HH may take a little longer to break in, all things being equal.

I haven't been able to discern any difference in the comfort level between horsehide and calfskin. I've alternated between a Bianchi Professional IWB (calfskin) and Galco IWB (horsehide) for daily carry of a SA Ultra Compact here in San Diego (which is a pretty warm place) and definitely prefer the horsehide.

You'll especially appreciate the extra stiffness of a horsehide holster with reinforced opening when reholstering one-handed. I only wish my holster had a sweat guard, since the ambi safety on my 1911 tends to pinch my middle-aged paunch.

Uncomfortable IWB holsters are a product of bad design, or non-compatable holster to body type. I do find many Kydex IWB less comfortable than leather however.
