I am looking to duplicate this excellent wraparound IWB 6" Colt Python design from DeSantis, for my Manurhin MR73:

Regrettably, this is the only holster making tutorial I can find in print or online.

I am reasonably good with my hands working in metal and wood, but leather is a whole new medium for me. My preference is for holsters in shell cordovan, lined with horsehide. Should I hit Horween for materials and go for it? What other resources can I draw upon?

By the time you get off the phone with Horween you will be looking at $300+ for that holster.....if they actually have any Shell Cordovan to offer you.

They have pretty high minimums and shipping and handling can add another $50 or so.

But.....if you want to make your own and don't mind the price....have at it.

I don't mind the cost. I have some great SIG P210 shell cordovan holsters that Josh Bulman made for me. It's the wait that deters me from sending the Manurhin to him for a pattern, and the paucity of tutorial resources that makes me reluctant to undertake the job myself.
