I'm currently looking to get a snap type IWB holster. If anyone has experience with more than one of the following holsters I'd love to hear your thoughts comparing them:

- Alessi CQC/S
- Sparks Axiom
- Bulman QRH

Thanks.

Alessi is the Gold Standard for that style of holster.

I own the Alessi CQC/S as well as the Mitch Rosen Premier model and a Matt Del Fatti snap on. They are very comfortable holsters and so easy to take off and on without having to take your belt off. They offer good concealment but perhaps not as good as a real close riding pancake. Any of the mentioned holsters all get my thumbs up vote!

The 5Shot SAP or Snap Attachment Pancake is almost identical to Lou's CQC/S. I have several and they are great rigs. I realize John didn't want to give a plug for his own products but I believe in giving credit where it is due and you won't go wrong with this rig. Here's a pic of one he did for my "J" frame S&W's.

To tell you the truth I would be just as happy with my CQC if it didn't have the snaps.

This is my favorite kind of holster right now. Is someone still taking orders for Alessi or is that a done deal?

Mail your orders into Alessi - they are still taking orders the old fashioned way.

I have two snap style OWB holsters from Mitch Rosen. They are very comfortable and well made.

Are all of these equally concealable...especially between the CQC/S and the Axiom styles? Seems like the Axiom would distribute weight better with the wide wings, but perhaps the narrower wings on CQC/S type would pull gun closer to body. I'm looking for concealment first and foremost -- especially with a Glock (got plenty with my 1911's)!

Not sure that the width of the wings makes much of a difference. I think it is probably 6 of one, half a dozen of another, but I don't have any direct experience with the Axiom. Tony makes a great product, so I can't imagine you could go wrong either way.

I believe the original poster (Mute) is looking for an IWB holster not and OWB. I've seen a few pics of John Ralston's IWB holsters with snap attachments ~ very nice, I make one with snap attachments that is modeled after my mentor Gary Brommeland's Max- Con V., Matt FelFatti makes some, Sparks etc....As mentioned above about the benefits of the width distributing the weight of the firearm is a big plus as well as stabilizing the holster, also they tend to be more comfortable to wear.

Best regards,

The below photos are of a Bruce Nelson Patriot, which most agree was the original snap-on OWB. When designing my own snap-on OWB in the late 90's (my Hy-Brid snap-on, now discontinued in lieu of my KQM snap-on) I had a lengthy phone conversation with Lou Alessi regarding his CQC-S. Lou experimented with the design extensively, primarily in terms of wing width and loop location in relation to the pistol; and told me he felt his biggest improvement over Mr. Nelson's concept was moving the loops closer to the pistol for better stability and holding the pistol tighter to the body, and widening the wings (top to bottom height). (I never experimented with this myself; I just took Lou's word for it). The Nelson design tended to flop out from the body primarily due to the spacing of the loops. The owner of the holster pictured was a very good friend of Mr. Nelson's and confirmed this, and the fact that even though the Patriot was being advertised it was still somewhat in the experimental stages, and not very many were made/sold before Mr. Nelson's untimely passing.

Rhome-how ya been?
You are correct in that his post does say IWB (I missed that).
Probablly because the 3 holsters he has listed are OWB and the rest of the thread evolved that way. :?

I have both the CQC-S, and the
Axiom. For me, the Axiom con-
ceals better. The butt of the gun
sits closer to my body. The Axiom
also rides a little bit lower, which
with my body shape (dunlap) is
helpful.

Both the Axiom, and CQC-S are
for the same weapon, a Colt CCO.

I also have an Alessi CQC-I, which
is an IWB. That holster is the most
concealing holster I own.

I'm looking for a Glock 29. IWB is my favorite, but sometimes that thick slide would be more comfy OWB with right clothing. Garrity's version of the CQC-S call The K.Q.M. looks good too.

It intuitively seems like the Axiom style would hold the butt of the gun closer due to the wider wings, but not sure. Appreciate the fist hand review! 8)
