I was at the SHOT show 2010 in Vegas a week ago and spent some time at the LTW booth. Boy did they have all kind of nice pistols, not all of them were 1911s, a couple of nice K frames from Ted Yost were really really nice. But this is not about guns, it's about holsters.
I spoke with John Ralston and asked him if he had any holsters for sale. He showed me a few, two of them I brought home with me. Here is one of them.
I always like the Sparks Summer Special, I prefer the original version, not the "2". I thought that it was the most comfortable IWB. As we all know, Jason Burton asked John to make a holster similar to the Summer Special but with features that Jason thought could improve the old package. He had John added the sweat shield and made the belt loops solid instead of with snaps. I have many nice IWBs from Sparks and Alessi, but they're all for 5" 1911s but none for a commander length pistol. I thought I would give the IBS rig by John a try.
It is a really nice holster with the comfort of the original SS and the solid belt loops made the holster more stable on the belt. He molded the leather tight to the gun but still allow a smooth draw. I really like this rig a lot, I think I'll be wearing it with my commanders for a long time, maybe as long as the original Summer Special that I've been wearing since 1986.
