Pictured below mated with a John Harrison-made custom Colt is a recently delivered holster from 5 Shot Leather. It’s an LFA-1 in Black Shark with Cowhide trim tailored for Commander/CCO sized 1911-style pistols. I’m thrilled with its outcome, totally impressed with John Ralston and highly recommend him for your holster needs. The man is dead-serious regarding product quality and customer service. For what more could a guy ask?!!

Please excuse the photo. My lack of photography skill and quality camera equipment does this combo no justice whatsoever. I hope to update the thread with real photos once help arrives :D

RANGE REPORT 11JUL10:

Firing a total of 250 rounds drawing and shooting two-shot successions alternating between the above pictured HDC custom .45 ACP and a mostly stock ’51 Colt Commander chambered for Super .38 (pictured below), my new LFA-1 holster and I bonded. Butter-smooth, offering quick presentations and rock-solid retention… this is one finely crafted holster.

I was also quite impressed with how easily the weapon(s) re-holstered without assistance from the support hand thanks to the mouth-band stiffener. And for us guys “slightly” past our prime, the bodyguard pieced works wonders for padding the gun against the body for comfort and holding it just far enough away for achieving a solid purchase for speed and reliability without compromising much in the way of concealment. Ahhhh, yes… perfect!

NICE pair... Talk about luck! You live next to one of my favorite smiths. Also John does great work. Too bad we cant touch things on here, we can just drool over the nice pics. I can almost smell the newness of the leather.

Thanks for posting

Tony

Very, Very Nice! A great looking alternative to the usual cowhide with shark trim.

You're spot-on... strictly by luck of the draw, I live less than 2 miles from a world-class gunsmith. Plus you couldn't ask for a better friend/neighbor.

Thanks for all the great comments, Gentlemen. The more I carry/use this particular combo the more I love it. In fact I'm planning a trip to the local gun club this weekend and will attempt wearing this stuff out! Stay tuned.
