Hey guys, I'm shortly going to be moving from my Sig 239 to a commander length 1911 for my carry gun. I prefer IWB, and currently carry the 239 in a Milt Sparks VMII.
I am curious as to what you all find to be the most comfortable solution for 1911's.
I want a high quality leather holster. I like the ease of the snaps for on and off that the VMII gives, but its not absolutely necessary.
Thanks for the suggestions!
Quinn

MS SS II works best for me...and I have a drawer full of 1911 holsters to prove it. IF the snap on/off isn't critical, look at 5shot IBS.

I've been using one of the Milt Sparks Nexus with a Lightweight Commander for the past year. While I never could get used to the VM2, it seemed to ride a little high for me and just didnt work, the Nexus doesn't have this issue. I will also give a plug for John Ralston IBS, I have one for a full-size and it works also. Only problem I have with are with some pants the belt loops just dont work for me, I know this is a easy fix either by a tailor or sticking with one brand of pants. I also have a Milt Sparks Heritage that works great also. With all of that being said though I think that each person has to go through that cycle looking for the right holster. If you like the VM2 you can always go to Gunbroker and search for Milt Spark, Allen Yost normally has them in stock and doesn't kill you with his price.

Not sure if they make it for the commander length, but I love the latest version of the Milt Sparks 1AT.

Being rather big at 6'2" and 290# with a 48" waist I have never been a fan of IWB holsters until I bought a used original "Jackass" brand IWB for a Commander. I wear it between my front right and right hip pocket; it feels like it was custom made for me; the gun fits it like a glove; and drawing is very smooth. Reholstering takes a bit of effort but I find if I pull the holster up a bit is works a lot easier. I found mine used, on Colt Forums, for $35. Here are a few photos to show you what it looks like; the pistol is a S&W 1911PD:
