Post subject: Need IWB for HP
PostPosted: Wed Mar 23, 2005 7:45 pm
I am moving over to a full size 1911 and Hi Power for carry. I have one of Gary's excellent Max Con V for the 1911, but I need some recommendations for the HP. I would like an IWB that would function similar to the Max Con V/Sparks Summer/VM2. I want to wait until Gary is back up and running for my "good" HP holster, so I am looking for something a bit less pricey to get me by. I REALLY do understand that you get what you pay for, but I need to buy a concealment holster for the HP plus a CZ RAMI so funds are limited. Suggestions will be appreciated.

Deez.

Check with Gary to see if he still makes the Cheetah IWB clip holster (it's not on his website).......very similar to an Alessi Talon clip. See my custom hipower add in the firearms for sale section for a pic of one. I've liked this holster a lot but unfortunately something has to go and its th HP before the 1911

Hey Deezul!
I ain't closed yet! We have had numerous construction delays with the new shop - mostly weather related. I'll be here (present shop location in FL) for about 3-4 weeks. I am quoting deliveries for late June.
Thanks!

First, I have to make a disclaimer-
I would normally never advise using a holster for the "wrong" gun, but since you are getting a correct holster, I doubt many would scold you much for it.

That said, I've found that SOME holsters meant for S&W 9mms can fit BHPs pretty well, and I see them in gunshop "junk boxes" a lot. Just the thing for a "meantime" holster.
I found this out when I bought a Bianchi S&W 9mm holster and mag pouch- for the mag pouch. For some reason, I checked the fit of a BHP in the holster.

For IWB, that very Bianchi #3 "Pistol Pocket" I just mentioned, marked "S&W 9MM" that has worked fairly well.

A very few Commander holsters can work also. In fact, some are marked BHP/Colt Comdr. That ticks me off, since the two aren't that close, but again, can do in a pinch.

If you have to do that, I probably don't have to tell you to test fit first.

I have a Kramer IWB I have used for years. Two other thoughts are Ken L. Null's excellent UNS or Milt Sparks Summer Special. Lastly, I also use a Milt Sparks Mirage belt slide a lot, this holster pulls the pistol in close to your body and the weapon rides between the belt and pants. Regards, Richard :D
