I will boast here of being a little bit of a Guncrafter insider, being long time friends (35 years now) with Alex. So I had a little advance knowledge of this, but just a little-- Alex is good at keeping information close when it needs to be kept close.
No one can predict what WC will do here. I have read recently that both Bill and son Ryan Wilson are back to day to day operations, I think that's gonna be good if true. I met Bill a long time ago, briefly, and he would have no reason to remember me. I met Ryan when I visited WC in 2015 and I could not have been more impressed- with him, and the place, and the people in general.
I have no insight into the inner workings of WC but I think the return of Bill and Ryan bodes well for WC and the GI deal. I think it's going to be good for Alex too. For him, GI was really a dream come true, or more accurate to say, created and forced into existence by Alex. Alex in my opinion is and has been the current reigning genius of the 1911. I know from regular contact with Alex that he had been wishing for more time to pursue and develop other ideas.... and we agreed that now, maybe we can finally work together on some of his, and-- some of mine. One thing we tried a couple times to work together on was a collaboration on a small lot of .45's that would be my "signature" gun by GI, with FRAG, Shield Driver rear sight, Extra Stout Plunger Tube, final assembly and test fire / zero by me, then returned to GI for final finish and sale. We were both just too dang busy to give it the time it deserved.
Anything could happen, but WC for sure has huge industry recognition that hopefully will be used to make the GI brand and especially the .50GI round, more mainstream.
