Belated congratulations:

Patrick Sweeney is one of four shooters on the US IPSC revolver team, which brought home the gold medal this year from the IPSC World Shoot in Greece.

It's not unusual for me to happen into a conversation that goes something like this: "Geez, these gunwriters. They can't get anything right. Plus, I saw this dude that writes in all the magazine at (name your shooting industry event) and, well, this guy barely knew how to operate (name your firearm), and couldn't hit didly with it".

It always gives me great pleasure to reply, "Well, whoever you're talking about, I know it wasn't Pat Sweeney".

The boy can shoot. Anything. We're proud of ya Patrick!

Mine broke on the morning of Day Four, and I had to shoot 35% of the stages with a borrowed (and left-hand-gripped) wheelgun.

What broke on it Patrick?

The trigger pivot pin snapped off, in its seat in the frame.

If I did really slow DA, it would carry up and time properly, which is how I extricated myself from the state where I discovered the problem.

Alas, the factory repair no longer is done per original. The new pivot pin goes through the frame, and is seen on the outside now.

I had a chance to talk the to guys in the Performance Center about my revolver, when I visited. it seems I hadn't broken off the shaft, I had busted the shaft seat, in the frame.

If all I had done was break the shaft, they could have unseated it, and pressed in a new one. since I broke the seat, the only way to make the frame work again was to create a new seat, through the frame.

As that was the wheelgun I went 15 out of 20 on the NG rifle popups, I wasn't going to scrap it.

Jerry Miculek had a revolver let him down, too, at a crucial stage in his 20th (?) Steel Challenge, too.
