Recently, I was watching an episode of the Great Biker Build Off. This is where the best builders of Harley choppers go head to head building their version of the best bike. During these shows the atmosphere appears loose and looks like a pretty cool place to hang out.

The Yost-Bonitz shop while certainly not the mecca for what is currently cool, we do have our moments. The really KEWL award more than likely goes to C.T. Brian. However, we recently had Wiley Clapp sitting around spinning yarns, Mike Detty from Combat Handguns, and few others who figure somewhere in the KEWL Katagory.

Then there is the days with Rob Leatham. Arguably the best pure competition shooter in any discipline anyone has seen. Rob comes in about once a month just to bust our chops. Lew Bonitz and I don't golf. Why? Because we suck, and it seems like a stupid exercise. Ray drives cool cars, and chases young chicks.

But these two geniuses? Teddy Yost and Rob Leatham last week tellin' lies and replicating something similar to the game of golf. I'm tellin' ya man it's the Oakleys that make them KEWL.

Steve

In my personal experience the correlation between golf and shooting sports is VERY STRONG. For example....

Over a beer golfer "A" says I played today and shot a ___, and explain in extreme detail every shot on every hole . He then ventures to the pistol range and when he gets homes says my group was only _____ inches from 25 yards, then explains every flier that he had and how they really don't count when measuring the size of his group.

The ability to blow sunshine in your ear has no boundaries. :D

Man - That was a great day! Unless you were a house on the 14th. Rob shoots VERY straight - the drives, well we're still workin' on those

We had a blast, though - Rob, Don Golembieski, and I - talked shop all the way. I think we even forgot to keep score. Probably a good thing 8)

1911's, choppers and golf. Three of my most favorite things!

Steve – When I read “a couple of pros” I actually had something else in mind but then I realized this isn’t that kind of forum.

I think the reason you and Lew don’t golf is that it’s too hard to mix drinks and swing clubs at the same time, or at least that’s what I’ve found.

I got to meet Rob L. at ''The Springfield shoot'' last year.
What a down to earth kinda guy. When screwing up on a speed drill he made jokes about himself  . He sure didn't come off acting like ''Mr. World Champion''. More than just willing to talk to folks and if he saw someone having problems he just stopped went up to them offered advice on stance, grip ,etc. In fact when I came back from rifle range(where I got to shoot M1A1s for the first time in my life) he waved over at me and asked if I fell in love with the scout rifle to which I replied in the affirmative :D I thought AR-15s were fun to shoot but nothing like S.A. M-14 semi-auto variant.
