Question posed to BOARD.

Due to lack of on forum activity in the area of forum member participation in the LTW charity events arena, what can I/we do to help stimulate it. On a year long basis.

When I log on, I see great pics, and everyone oohing and aahing over them. The LTW gunsmiths do all the grunt work when it comes to getting "hands dirty" to raise the money for the charities. Not forgetting Mark and his time. But what can we do as the people who visit this great site? No wait, its not just a website, its a CONCEPT. Of what people can accomplish when they choose to do something instead of just talking and waiting for someone else to do something.

I challenge everyone to find it within themselves to ask "what can I do". No matter how small it may be, it would be better than nothing.

So, what can I do to help? I am here. Just ask me.

I hope this does not offend anyone, just my feelings.

Al Shear

I have no doubt that everyone here visits at least one other, probably many other message boards, most of them gun related. I would suggest that adding a link to this site in your sig line on those other boards might help. It will of course increase the asshat quotient, but Im sure it will get a % of the good folks too.

Hmmm,

Come back after working a long weeking shift and a double on Saturday and no volunteers.

Ok, Mark I guess you can just delete this thread. My head hurts from hitting the wall.

Sorry LTW guys.

BOD,

I agree with Al. The biggest problem as I see it, we dont know what else might need to be done. If I were to have a vote in this, I vote that you post some of the more menial tasks that need to be done. I assure you that there are more folks out here to shoulder some of the burden to allow you all to focus on what you all do best.

What do you guys think about a LTW calender? Each month could feature the work of another smith or leather maker. There are places like shutterfly that make it easy to do. The only involved part would be making a paypal account, or figuring out how to handle payments. I would be happy to organize it.
Thoughts?

+1 what Jim says.

I think its more a question of letting folks know what can or needs to be done to help then people not wanting to help. Let us know what we can do and someone is going to jump in to fill the void.

I also agree....let us know what we can do to help and I'm sure the outstanding members here would follow through!! Now that I am not able to work, I could probably spend some extra time helping out "around the house" here a little. It would be a great way for me to help pay back this site, which has along with the members here, been very therapeutic to me over the last 2 years. And thanks you again Al for taking the initiative here...again!!--John

Al, guys, that's great. I know we have forum members who are anxious to help. In fact we've had people volunteer for these exact tasks you mentioned, Al-- like doing some of the telephone legwork on the upcoming raffle for americansnipers.

Keep the tread going and I know that sooner or alter somebody will take you up on the offer.

And thanks for thinking of it.

I would be glad to help in any way possible. I would say something along the lines of a calender would be awesome. I have found over the years that most anyone in the custom gun or firearm arena tends to be a hardware junkie. With this affliction goes lapel pins, coffee mugs etc. we do this with our bikes, cars, boats, airplanes etc. And calendars with the eye candy contained here in would be awesome. Although I am in no way affiliated, other than a forum reader, I woud not hesitate to explain an LTW logo to one of my flying, shooting, or riding buddies. Exposure can only help the cause.

I just spotted this. It's the first time I've been on here in a while. I haven't been here much lately due to lack of time and honestly- there are only so many nice guns I can look without being able to own them before I have to step away now and then.

Help? Truthfully: I don't know what to do to help.
Other than buying raffle tickets and the occasional donation, I don't know what else we "regular people" can do. I won the "Operator Package" a couple of years ago and have tried to let everyone know about that (and especially where it came from) to the point they are probably sick of hearing about it :D

I, and others, could surely do something around here, even if it's just push a broom now and then.
Just let us know.

You can put me down for a calender. Fifty-dollar donation sound right?

I'm not sure if this is an impossible idea or not. How about a louder than words flagship pistol that is available to only its members. If you make it say a standard package built by several smiths off an inexpensive base gun that just flat out runs. A package like the 1* elite on a Springfield Mil Spec and marked "LTW". A pistol run like that would get a lot of attention by serious 1911 fans. If it could be kept to under $2,500 with a donation to the website I bet there would be no problem getting a number of them out there with the current members to take to the ranges. Maybe even one would end up in a gun magazine.

Now that our new store is open and high traffic, we would gladly display and sell whatever we could to help. Our traffic is 15 -30 shooters a day and growing....fast. All proceeds would go back to LTW. 100 %. no cost to LTW.

Chuck,
Thank you on behalf of all of us.
At this time, the best thing you could do to help, would be to promote our latest raffle on behalf of AmericanSnipers.org.
Hopefully, we will soon have a page that can be printed and posted at various venues.
We are all working to get this done ASAP.
Thanks again!
:D
