Fellas,

I had the opportunity to spend a little time today talking guns and life with Chip Brezee, aka Witherspoon, and our county Sheriff, CG Feldman. Both of them are class acts, and I'm glad I got to meet them. It just goes to show you that gun people really are a little more level-headed and friendly than the media would have you believe.

Chip, I truly enjoyed it. Whenever you're in town next, gimme a holler. But, whatever happens, next time we have to do it southern style and put a few rounds down range followed with some dead animals grilled up right. Thank you and Sheriff Feldman for your time and company. Until we meet again... God bless.

Jim-

The pleasure was ours.

Gentlemen of the Forum-

I met this young man in person yesterday. He served in the US Army for 6 1/2 years after graduating from high school and is now attending college at Virginia Tech. His ambition after graduation is to be employed with a state agency dealing with troubled youth, teaching. (And he is healthy enough that NO kid is going to buck up against him! He could "ride the range" with me anytime.) When he's home on break he helps with the family electrical contracting business, doing the dirty grunt work. He hunts, shoots, (and probably fishes, but we didn't discuss that), spends time with his friend and pistolsmith Dave Sams (who seems to let him have the run of the shop) and is obviously learning how to build guns. He quite obviously has high morals and values. Most of you know that I'm an old cop. I've been around bad folks and good folks. This is a good one. Our country will be in good hands in the future with young men like Jim involved.

Chip, Frankly, I think there's a lot more of them around than the popular media would have us believe. Kudos to Jim and you.

Well I trust Chip's judge of character, right up to the point you said he was learning ot build guns. Now I don't know...that is where it all starts. Seriously, hopefullly there will be more stories like this when we return from Vegas.

Chip,

Thank you for the kind words. It means a lot. As for having run of the shop, that's not really the case. It's just that I've spebt enough time there that Dave knows he doesn't have to get up and show me where anything is. I try to pay attention to everything he does when I am there, simply because I'd like to be able to maintain my own guns as best as possible. Dave builds 'em right, no doubt about it.

Thanks again, and until next time... God bless you and yours.
