This is what it looks like out my front door right now.

Since December 28th, 2004 we have had over 6 feet of accumlation. It snows a few feet, then melts some, and then snows more. The reports say they have received something like 19 feet on the mountain. Great skiing if the roads get cleared. Of course, I'm sure Tim gets to see more than this :)

I haven't seen snow like this since 1977. And they say another TWO feet is expected tonight. This is unusual snowfall down here in the valley. So far this is the wettest winter since 1916.

I'm going to Phoenix.

Rain, rain, and more rain...

Wow. My friend is a park ranger stationed at Yosemite. Worst storm in 90 years. He sent me some wonderful photos as well.

We're getting hammered pretty hard too. Up the road a bit in Ventura, a hillside just collasped and knocked out 10~20 homes. 1 dead and apparently more then a few missing. Highway 1 on the coast is currently closed. Lots of mud soaked hills with no vegetation after last years fires.

Supposedly the rain will finally stop Wednesday, but I heard today we are already passed our years average and it's only January 10.

Worst part is that everyone is hitting the indoor ranges now and I can't get a lane to shoot! 8)

Seems at least as bad as the big el Nino storms of 1994. It's bad, but not as bad as others and for that I'm grateful.

Phoenix is awesome this time of year.

I recall the storms of 1994 well. Our street in Costa Mesa (deep in the heart of Orange County) had rain water knee deep. It was a little disconcerting. That was as close to a flood as I had ever seen.

Stay dry! We need the moisture, but it'll be nice to get a break!

Snow? Oh yeah. That's where you go when you want to ski for the day, then you go back home! :D

You know, the more I think about it, Ned might be the one to REALLY educate us on white stuff. I've heard he gets so much snow that he's actually got a two story outhouse!

Hey - It's supposed to get down to 68 degrees here. Do I need to worry about that white stuff, or will I be OK?

Ted,
From what my wife tells me about the weather there lately, you don't have to worry about snow, but you might want to direct your talents to building an ark!!!
Best,

Caught a foot of fresh on Monday in Grand Targee but I'd love to have some of that snow here in central WY. Stay warm and watchout for some slides in the backcountry.

Yeah Ted, tell 'em about the summer in the mid 1990's when it was so hot they closed Sky Harbor because they didn't have data to confirm if the tires on the aircraft were safe at the tarmac temperatures...

I do believe that was also the summer where they closed the parks because kids were getting severe burns on park equipment.

It was hot. Africa hot. We were suffering heat frustration! :D

Valley of the sun. Valley my a**. It's an e z bake oven out there!

If it starts snowing and it's 68 degrees, you should definately worry. It means Hell has froze.
