Hello All. I'm new to this forum thanks to a bud I bought some sights off of. He sent me link to a buddy of his' Ted Yost Custom http://louderthanwords.us/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3489 which brought me here for the first time.
While I have been a member of other Firearms & knife forums I had never seen this one. So far so nice. Seems like a lot of nice folks, a lot of nice work & a lot of nice eye candy. Good to know.
I'm not new to the world of the custom pistol or knife. I was our PD's range officer for approx 7-8 years and the armorer for approx 5-7years.
I've been doing my own 1911 work for most of that time & just started trying my hand at making my own 1911 pistol grips & knives from damascus billets. My 1911 work is by no means on par with the likes of most of the established smith's here but, I'm comfortably at home installing safties, triggers, plunger tubes, fitting barrels, fitting bushings, bobbing a frame for a bobtail MS housing or for a BT Grip safety.
I'm a day or so away from going out on an early disability retirement due to an injury on duty that has left me unable to be an LEO anymore. All is not lost as I now take care of our 1 year old all day every day & I have started in on this pistol grip and knife making business. All I want it to do is pay for more toys...heh heh heh.
Thanks to all for this site. I hope i can contribute to it in some positive fashion.....
Take care & I hope to see you all soon.
Brytaldiver aka Bryant

Welcome!
I understand about the early disability thing. I left the airline industry the same way five years ago. Like you, I became a stay-home Dad. It's a lot of work and certainly does not offer instant rewards for your efforts, but it is the best job there is.
Good luck!

Welcome from another"damaged cop"who had to take an early retirement. Although I read a lot more than I post, this place helps me retain my perspective. These guys are great! James
