Sometimes there are ?'s I have which pertain to pistols but just dont fit in that forum (or with rifles and same thing)

Ex.... Crimson Trace and Surefire X200 or M6X for an OWB Commander Dog walking/woods gun

proper ammo for a deer hunt in 45/70

etc etc

Why not just start a regular forum for basic firearms ?'s

I know there are lots of boards out there that already cover this BUT there yo u have to deal with weekend know it alls and magazine kings. Id much rather be able to present these ?'s here (in a forum that forewarns other members these are somewhat basic firearms ?'s not always about custom builds) and be able to ge the thoughts of people with real world experience or at least people who dont just think they know everything there is to know about 1911's as there dad's uncles, cousins, aunts best friend knew a guy who was on a Seal Team.

Just a thought...
As I said, I hate to present kinda basic ?'s that pertain to more than just custom guns in the custom forums.

Thanks for the suggestion, Jeremy. We set LTW up intentionally to not attract the weekend know it alls and magazine kings.

Unfortunately, they represent the "camel's nose" of all that's gone wrong with most of the other forums. Once they're in, we become just like the other boards. I think that would push poor Chuck right over the edge

This is not to say you can't get an answer to your questions here. A PM or email to one of the mods or even some of the members will generally find you the info you're seeking. Questions submitted offline mean you get to decide whose opinions to sift through. I think you'll find the LTW membership a wealth of information.

One thing to remember, though - like it says in the "how-to" sticky, use common sense, keep the questions concise, and don't go to the well too often. Oh, and be patient - we do get a lot of mail.
