On December 30, 2005 I decended upon Grand Junction, Colorado in an attempt to suprise the heck out of my good friend CT Brian. Well my wife and I walked into his shop that day which was his birthday and you would

have thought I was from the IRS.

CT had this look on his face like "I am not comprehending what is happening" But he came to his senses and it was on. I had sent a box of parts to Tim's house that arrived about a half hour before my wife and I did. Tim and I have talked about building a gun together for some time and his wife Susan and I figure there was not time like his birthday to burden the elder statesman.

I can only say what we started with was "humble beginnings" I had a Colt frame and was able to get a Les Baer Commander slide and the necessary parts. The fun part was Tim and I had no rules and I figured I would keep my mouth shut long enough to learn something....and that I did. With all of the things I have learned from Ted I knew just enough to be a hazard. Good time were had at Weavers.....what a place to "relax". Thanks to Tim and Susan for an unforgettable time.

Well, it turned out pretty good. Interestingly enough at the same time I was talking to Trace Rinaldi who was in the process of starting a new forum with the finest knifemakers anywhere. Well that turned into a phone introduction with Jim Burke. During one of our conversations I told him I was looking for a nice folder. Jim remarked that he was bringing a very robust folder to Shot and it was not spoken for. Didn't take long to figure out that these two would look good together.

It is not often you would use a gun as a back up to your knife. This workmanship on this knife is simply unreal. Like Jim says "I ain't really a knife until you can cut yer way out of a plane with it" The funny thing is he aint kidding.

Both the gun and the knife wear G-10 on the handles and stainless steel in the important parts.

Thats one beautiful blaster! And one robustly LARGE folder!

But thats the way I like them too. I carry a full size Crawford Kasper now which is as big as as a Commander.

Oh, you're welcome to pull that bus up in front of my house any day! I couldn't build a gun for you but my wifes a gourmet cook and we'll feed you.

I REALLY like that gun. A Baer slide and Colt 80 frame? I'd have never paired them up, but you did a heck of a nice job on that one. Tim, I like you style, man. Kinda sounds cheesy, but the lines of your builds are really growing on me.

That knife is friggin' HUGE! Sweet!

When the door to my shop opened that morning, I went slackjawed.

Then Steve & I got to work whilst our wives shopped Colorado into a state of oblivion for an (all too short) 4 days.

I can't wait to see a close-up of the engraving that was done on the window we left on the frontstrap checkering!

Jim, your knives flat out impress the heck out of me! For that reason, I've taken out a restraining order against you for the 4 days of SHOT. You are not allowed to come within 100 yards of me or I'm afraid I'll have to pull my checkbook on you and USE it!!!!

This is gonna be one dynamite SHOT show!!!!

Neat gun. Very handy looking. When I saw the pic of the gun and knife together, I thought the gun was an 80% scale model!
Do you just shove the muzzle into a mag pouch to carry it, or use a wrist lanyard?

Cool blaster there, Steve! You and the "Elder Statesman" did good!! Plenty of cool touches to scope out. I hope your bringing this shooter 'n sticker pair to SHOT.
